Terminology3.1 For definitions of terms used in this specification, referto Terminology C 1
5、62.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The glass shall be reasonably free of surface defects,such as open blisters or airlines and scratches, and shall becompletely free of chips and checks. This is applicable to boththe inside and outside surfaces. It shall represent good work-manship as consistent wit
6、h standard glass process capabilities.4.2 Heat Treatment or AnnealingPipe and fittings may besuitably heat treated (tempered) or annealed as specified by themanufacturer.5. Chemical Requirements5.1 The chemical requirements shall be in accordance withSpecification E 438.6. Physical Requirements6.1 T

Operating Temperatures7.1 Minimum Operating TemperatureThe minimum ratedoperating temperature for all sizes shall be 0F (18C)provided that the temperature of the m
8、aterial being conveyed isabove the freezing point.7.2 Maximum Operating TemperatureThe maximumrated operating temperature for all sizes shall be 350F(177C).7.3 Thermal Shock ResistanceThe maximum allowablesudden temperature differential for properly installed systemsshall be in accordance with Table
9、 1 for the various pipe sizes.7.3.1 Maximum temperature differential refers to an almostinstantaneous temperature change, such as low-pressure steamfollowed directly by a flush of ice cold water, or the reverse.Maximum temperature differential pertains to inside and out-side surfaces, exclusive of s
10、ign.7.3.2 The test method for thermal shock is not ordinarilyperformed, but in those cases where thermal shock resistancemay be questioned, it may be performed in accordance withMethod C 600. Acceptance of this test shall be that all testedware shall pass. If one or more failures do occur, a seconds
11、ampling twice the population of the first, shall be tested. If anyfailures occur in the second sampling, the entire shipment shallbe rejected.8. Pressure Rating8.1 Maximum recommended working pressure for beadedglass process pipe and fittings shall be in accordance withTable 2, when the pipe is inst

15、 fittings shall withstand an internal hydrostaticpressure test when tested in accordance with Method C 601.Acceptance of this test shall be that all tested ware shall pass.If one or more failures do occur, a second sampling twice thepopulation of the first shall be tested. If any failures occur inth
16、e second sampling, the entire shipment shall be rejected.8.3 All pipe sizes are suitable for vacuum applications.9. Dimensions and Permissible Variations9.1 Beaded Flanges:9.1.1 Flange Face FlatnessMaximum permissible devia-tion from a flat plane across the face of the flange on all sizesshall be116

(1.6 mm).9.1.2 Flange Face SquarenessFlange faces of both pipeand fittings shall be square to the centerline within the limitprescribed in Table 3.9.1.2.1 Squareness of straight pipe lengths shall be mea-sured by placing the pipe on rollers, located approximately 2in. (51 mm) from each end, and
18、 butting one end against a flatplane perpendicular to the axis of the rollers. The pipe shall berotated and the length variation read with a suitable mecha-nism, such as a dial indicator. The maximum variation shall notexceed that shown in Table 3 for several pipe sizes.9.1.2.2 Pipe fittings shall b
19、e measured for flange squarenesswith a gage having flat plates constructed at the angle requiredby that fitting. One flange shall be firmly placed on one plate,and the difference between the remaining flange face and theother surface plate shall not exceed the amount shown in Table3 for the respecti
20、ve fitting size.9.1.3 Flange Dimensions and SpecificationsBeadedflange dimensions shall be as required by the manufacturer forthe system.9.2 Bow:9.2.1 Bow for All Pipe DiametersBow shall be measuredby supporting the pipe on “V” blocks, mounted in-line on thesame plane, approximately 2 in. from each
21、end of the pipe. Adial gage in contact with pipe at midlength measures variationby rotating the pipe 360. Bow is defined as half of themeasured variation, and shall not exceed 0.25 % of the totallength of the pipe.9.3 Dimensions of All Pipe and Fittings (see Annex A1):9.3.1 Straight Pipe (Dimensions

Packaging11.1 Pipe, fittings and hardware shall be packaged as toprevent damage to them during transportation and handling.Those items packed in containers conforming to all construc-tion requirements of consolidated freight classification as tobursting te
