Significance and Use6.1 This test method is used to determine a membranesability to bridge a crack that forms after the membrane hasbeen applied and allowed to cure.7. Apparatus7.1 Forced D

Conditioning/Mixing8.1 Unless otherwise specified by those authorizing the test,standard conditions are 23 6 1C (73.4 6 1.8F) and 50 6 5%relative humidity.8.2 Store all membrane materials to be tested in an un-

10、opened container at standard conditions for at least 24 h beforeany test specimens are prepared.8.3 Follow the manufacturers instructions for mixing andpreparing membrane materials for testing. Thoroughly stirone-component materials before using. Mix two-componentcompounds in the ratio recommended b

11、y the manufacturer. Ifrequired by the manufacturer, mix each component prior to thefinal mix.9. 14、 the three mortar slabs crosswise in thecenter of the 152 mm (6 in.) length to a depth of 6 mm (14 in.),as shown in Fig. 1.NOTE 1Mortar substrates must be prepared according to GuideC1375.9.1.2 Measure the thickness of each block to the nearest0.025 mm (0.001 in.) on each side of the center notch, u

15、singvernier calipers. Mark the location where the measurementswere taken for future use. Record these values.9.1.3 Mark the edge of each slab along the 152 mm (6 in.)length so that the bench marks are 51 mm (2 in.) apart andapproximately 25 mm (1 in.) on each side of the center cut asshown in Fig. 1

16、.9.1.4 Apply masking tape across the ends of the uncut 76 by152 mm (3 by 6 in.) faces of the slabs, leaving an exposed 76by 102 mm (3 by 4 in.) area on each where the membrane maybe applied.9.1.5 For self-leveling membrane materials, lay the slabs ona bed of sand and level them.NOTE 2For self-leveli

17、ng membranes, apply 50 mm (1 in.) widemasking tape around the slab perimeter. The tape should protrude abovethe slab surface on all four sides to form a dam.9.1.6 Apply sufficient membrane material to yield a dry filmthickness of 1.52 6 0.13 mm (60 6 5 mils) to the exposed areaon the slab. Check the

18、 membrane thickness with a wet filmgage. Allow the three specimens tocure for 14 days at standard conditions (see 8.1).NOTE 3Prior to appl

19、ication, the non-volatile content or applicationrate must be known. Perform Test Method C1250 to determine nonvolatilecontent or contact the manufacturer for required information.NOTE 4An alternative thickness can be tested and must be reported inthe Test Report.9.1.7 Place the test assemblies in a

20、forced-draft oven for 14days at 70 6 2C (158 6 3.6F). Remove the test assembliesandletcool1hatstandard conditions. Remove the maskingtape.9.1.8 Using vernier calipers, carefully measure the thicknessof the substrate-membrane composite at the locations previ-ously measured and marked. Measure to the

21、nearest 0.025 mm(0.001 in.). Record these measurements.9.1.9 Place the test assemblies on a release paper coveredwooden board approximately 152 by 305 mm (6 by 12 in.) withthe membrane side face down. Restrain the test blocks byblocking the ends with blocks of wood nailed to the base boardto prevent

22、 the test blocks from flying apart. Insert a steel wedgeinto the cut and hit with a hammer no harder than necessary tocause the test block to crack along the cut. Be careful, asexcessive force will crack the sample.9.1.10 Handling very carefully to prevent tearing themembrane, place each of the spec

23、imens in turn in the jaws ofthe testing machine and pull it in a direction perpendicular tothe break, at a separation rate of 12.7 mm (0.5 in.)/min., untilthe distance between the benchmarks is 57.2 mm (2.25 in.).Stop the machine and immediately examine the films for anybreaks or cracks.10.
