Manufacture and Composition4.1 ManufactureThese products shall be formed eitherwith or without pressure and cured either under natural oracce
11、lerated conditions, to meet the physical requirements ofthis specification.4.2 CompositionThis specification is applicable to fiber-cement roofing products, consisting of an inorganic binder (forexample, Portland cement) reinforced by discrete non-asbestosfibers.NOTE 1Process aids, fillers, mineral

Mechanical and Physical Properties5.1 Mechanical and physical properties, as defined in Sec-tion 9, shall be determined on uncoated and unsealed speci-mens, unless the coating is an integral part of the product.Where products are tested coated or sealed, the

Supplementary Shapes6.1 Supplementary shapes such as starter pieces, hip andridge finishing pieces, and ridge rolls shall have the samegeneral characteristics as the products which they are designedto complement.7. Inspection and Acceptance7.1 Inspection of material sha
17、ll be at the point of shipmentat the manufacturing facility. The inspector, representing thepurchaser, shall have authorized access to the carriers beingloaded for shipment to the purchaser. The purchaser shall beafforded all reasonable and available facilities at the point ofshipment for sampling a
18、nd inspection of the material, whichshall be conducted so as not to interfere unnecessarily with theloading of the carriers.7.2 Third party certification, including inspections con-ducted either continuously or at regular intervals, shall berecognized as the alternative to lot inspection.7.3 The man
19、ufacturer shall set up a quality control programto inspect the product throughout the manufacturing process.Each production lot shall be marked or coded to identify thedate of manufacture. The Quality Control Program shall haveprovisions to identify and set aside any material or finishedproduct that
20、 appears defective and does not meet this specifi-cation.7.4 Third party inspection for Quality Control ProgramCertification shall be made at a minimum of once per quarter.These inspections shall occur without notice at anytime theplant is in operation. ISO 9000 Self Certification shall bepermitted
21、in lieu of a third party Quality Control InspectionProgram and quarterly inspections.7.5 Failure to conform with any of the requirements of thisspecification shall constitute grounds for non-acceptance.8. Production Quality Control Requirements8.1 Sampling:8.1.1 Breaking Load TestA minimum of one te
22、st speci-men per 500 m2(5382 ft2) exposed area of merchantablematerial produced shall be randomly selected from a consistentstage in the manufacturing process and tested for breaking loadas defined in 8.2.1.8.1.2 Water Absorption TestA minimum of one test speci-men per lot of merchantable material p
23、roduced shall berandomly selected from a consistent stage in the manufacturingprocess and tested for water absorption as defined in 8.3.8.2 Mechanical Requirements:8.2.1 Breaking Load Test ProcedureEach test specimenshall be centered on two parallel metal supports, having aradius of 13 mm (12 in.),
24、which shall be free to rotate (see Fig.1). The center-to-center distance between the supports shall be254 mm (10 in.). A load shall be applied at the center of thespan, with a metal bar of 13 mm (12 in.) radius, be parallel tothe two parallel metal supports, and be in contact with the testspecimen o
25、ver its entire width. The load shall be applied at auniform rate not exceeding 44.5 N (10 lbf) per second untilfailure. The failing load for each test specimen shall berecorded to the nearest9N(2lbf). Test results shall berecorded as N (lbf).8.2.2 Precision and Bias:8.2.2.1 PrecisionThe precision of
26、 the procedure in thisstandard for breaking load test is being determined.8.2.2.2 BiasSince there is no applicable reference mate-rial to determine bias for the breaking load test, no statement ofbias is being made.8.2.3 Condition of AcceptanceThe breaking load shall bea minimum of 312 N (70 lbf) fo
27、r a 305-mm (12-in.) widespecimen prior to shipping. If the manufacturer produces aproduct of widths other than 305 mm (12 in.), a force per unitwidth shall be calculated. The minimum force shall be 1.0N/mm (5.8 lb/in.).8.3 Water AbsorptionCalculate the amount of water ab-sorbed from the increase in
28、weight of the dried specimenduring submersion for a period of 48 h. Express waterabsorption as the percentage by weight when tested in accor-dance with Test Methods C 1185 on a full-sized specimen. Thevalues obtained are used for quality control purposes. Themaximum water absorption shall be 25 %.8.
29、4 Dimensions and Tolerances:8.4.1 Nominal Length, Width, and ThicknessThe shape,size, and thickness shall be specified by the manufacturer.Dimensions shall be determined as specified in Test MethodsC 1185.8.4.2 Length and Width ToleranceThe maximum varia-tion from the manufacturers specified lengths
30、 and widths shallbe 612 mm (12 in.) and 66mm(14 in.), respectively.8.4.3 Thickness ToleranceThe maximum variation fromthe manufacturers specified thickness shall be 625 % at thecenterline when cut at the middle of the test specimens length.8.4.4 Weight ToleranceThe maximum variation from themanufact
31、ures specified weight, on samples taken at a consis-tent point in the manufacturing process which are either asreceived or oven dried, shall be 610 %.8.5 Workmanship and Finish:8.5.1 WorkmanshipThe surface of the product to be ex-posed shall be free of defects that impair serviceability.8.5.2 Finish
32、The surface of the product to be exposedshall be smooth, grained, granulated, coated, or otherwisetextured.8.5.3 ColorThe exposed surface of the product shall bethe natural color of the product or be colored by the addition ofmineral pigments, pigmented coatings, veneers, or embeddedmineral granules

35、perties.9. Product Qualification Testing9.1 Product qualification testing shall consist of “once only”tests, with the manufacturers statement of results providedupon customers request. Changes in product formulation,design or manufacturing process, beyond the ranges allowed inthe manufacturers produ
36、ct specification, shall require appro-priate retesting and written concurrence by an independenttesting agency stating that the changes in formulation, designor manufacturing process are not detrimental to the require-ments of this specification.9.2 Frost Resistance Test (Freeze/Thaw)When tested ina
37、ccordance with Test Method C 1185 Section 16 (Freeze/Thawfor Roofing Products), the average ratio of retained strength forthe freeze/thaw specimens shall be categorized by grade asdefined in Table 1. Where freeze/thaw testing has not beendone, the product shall be assigned a rating of grade 1.9.3 Wa
38、rm Water TestMethods of testing shall be inaccordance with Test Method C 1185.9.3.1 Conditions of AcceptanceAfter testing, the speci-mens shall comply with the following:9.3.1.1 No additional visible cracks, structural alteration ordelamination shall be apparent.9.3.1.2 The mean breaking load per un
39、it width of the testspecimens after warm water exposure shall be at least 80percent of the mean breaking load per unit width of the wetcontrol specimens.9.4 Accelerated Weathering Test:9.4.1 Products shall be coated or uncoated as tested in 5.1.9.4.2 SampleTen representative and randomly selectedsam
40、ples of the product shall be used, of which five must beheld as controls.9.4.3 ApparatusTesting shall be performed using PracticeG 152, G 153, or G 155. The test method used shall bereported.9.4.4 ProcedureThe test shall be run for a period of 3000h on coated or uncoated material, as specified in th
41、e manufac-turers literature. It shall be reported whether the test wasperformed on coated or uncoated material.9.4.5 Conditions of AcceptanceSurface changes such ascracking, checking, crazing, erosion, or chalking shall bereported in accordance with Standard E 284. Loss of adhesionof the top surface
42、, as evaluated in accordance with TestMethods D 3359, shall constitute a failure.9.5 Water TightnessA full-sized, finished product speci-men, when completely framed and tested in accordance withTest Method C 1185, shall not be prohibited from showingmoisture on the underside, but in no instance shal
