All that is necessary is fieldconfirmation of the proper proportions of the mixes used inconstruction.4.3 Property SpecificationsThese Specifications requiretesting of laboratory-prepared mortar for compliance with therequirements

Theamount of water required in mortar produced at the construc-tion site is normally greater than the amount used for Specifi-cation C270 Property Specifications testing.4.3.2 Do not use the Specification C270 Property Spec

Due to the higher amount of water necessary foractual masonry construction, mortar produced and sampled inthe field will typically have lower compressive strength thanthat produced in the laboratory per Specification C270.4.3.3
12、When mortar is specified by the Property Specifica-tions, the quantities of cementitious materials and aggregatesas determined through laboratory testing are converted tovolumetric proportions to produce masonry mortar at theconstruction site.5. 20、1 Use Test Method C780, not Specification C270,toevaluate mortars prepared at the construction site.5.5.2 Use Test Method C780 to evaluate masonry mortarprepared at the construction site for the following properties:mortar aggregate ratio (Test Method C780, Annex A4) andmortar water content (Test Me

Bymeasuring the mortar aggregate ratio and mortar water content, the proportion of cementitious materials to aggregate by masscan be determined and then converted to proportions byvolume. The measured volumetric proportions of the construc-tion site-produced mortar can be compar

Construction site masonrymortar strengths are not generally equal to the values cited inthe Property Specifications Requirements Table of

Furthermore, mortar com-pressive strengths can vary from day to day depending on theamount of mix water required, the curing conditions at theconstruction site, the weather conditions, masonry
