Summary of Test Method4.1 This test method is based upon weighing specimens ofthe insulation material and then dry
7、ing the specimens byheating them in an oven to remove any moisture. Then themoisture content is determined using the calculation procedurein 9.1.5. Significance and Use5.1 Some insulation materials contain moisture, which willaffect the thermal and other physical properties of the insula-tion.6. App

Sampling and Test Specimen Preparation7.1 Test SpecimenThe test specimen shall be of a size thatcan be conveniently tested in a drying oven but not less than 72cubic inches in volume such as 6 by 6 by 2 in. thick (150
9、by150 by 51 mm).8. Procedure8.1 Four test specimens shall be tested. Cut or prepare thefour specimens to meet the size requirements of 7.1.8.2 Measure and record the specimens weight (WI) imme-diately after the specimens are prepared to size. The specimensshall be weighed to the nearest 0.0011 lb (0
10、.5 g).8.3 Place the specimens in an air-circulating oven at atemperature specified in the material specification or at atemperature no higher than 230 6 10F (110 6 6C) for aminimum of 2 h. Cool the specimens to room temperature in adesiccator and measure their weight. Repeat the process untilsuccess
11、ive weights agree to within 0.2 % of the specimenweight obtained in the latest weighing. Record these weights asmoisture free weight (WMF).NOTE 1When testing an insulation that contains multiple ingredientsand one or more ingredients will dehydrate between the material specifi-cation upper temperatu
