Materials and Manufacture6.1 Aerosol polyurethane foam sealants are produced by thecatalyzed chemical polymerization rea

18、ction of proprietarychemical formulations and appropriate blowing agents. Theproduct of this reaction is bead extruded from pressurizedcontainers through a nozzle device at the point of application toa building joint as a foamed sealant material. Bead foam curingis achieved with atmospheric moisture

19、.6.2 Aerosol latex foam sealants are produced by the blend-ing of proprietary formulations and appropriate blowingagents. This mixture is bead extruded from pressurized con-tainers through a nozzle device at the point of application to abuilding joint as foamed sealant material. Bead foam dryingthen

20、 continues over a brief period of time with the loss offormulation moisture.6.3 The aerosol foam sealant product shall be suitable forshelf-stable pressurized containment, ready to dispense.6.4 In most field applications, the aerosol foam sealant isfoamed-in-place directly into open joints and cavit

21、ies inbuilding envelope wall and roof areas by consumers or trainedprofessionals to resist the undesirable transmission of moisture,conditioned air, heat, and atmospheric air infiltration/exfiltration of gases and heat energy.7. Physical Requirements7.1 Aerosol foam sealants shall have guide physica

22、l prop-erty characteristics as shown in Table 1.7.2 Other physical properties shall be specified as agreedupon between the manufacturer and the purchaser, if requiredfor engineering design purposes, such as the anticipation ofservice temperature extremes and conductive thermal resis-tance values.NOT

Sampling8.1 For the purposes o

Test Specimen Preparation9.1 Aerosol foam sealant specimens for physical propertytesting shall be made in accordance with the manufacturersrecommendations.9.1.1 Pressurized containers shall be conditioned for 48 hunder controlled temperature and humidity env

31、ironment con-ditions before the extrusion of foam sealant beads onto anapproved substrate surface.9.1.2 Unless otherwise specified and reported, the con-trolled environment conditions shall be 23 6 2C and 50 65 % RH.9.1.3 Replicate testing specimens shall be of sufficientquantity and dimensions to s

Test Methods10.1 YieldDetermine linear bead and volumetric yield foraerosol foam sealants in accordance with Test Method C 1536.Refer to Note 1 regarding apparent density calculated fromdata obtained in this test method.10.2 Tack-free Time and Trim TimeDetermine

33、 aerosolfoam sealant curing times by subjective visual observations,using a clean, flat, wooden tongue depressor, a sharp box-cutterknife, and a 30 cm (11.81 in.) length of 1 cm (0.39 in.) diameterbead foam sealant freshly dispensed under standard laboratoryconditions of temperature and humidity (Re

34、ference TestMethod C 1536). Begin timing observations and periodicallytouch the foam bead surface with the clean, flat, tonguedepressor surface until the bead surface no longer adheres aftergentle contact pressure. Report the elapsed time, to the nearestminute, as “tack-free” time. Then, cut through

35、 the bead at1min intervals until the knife blade is free of wet (sticky)sealant foam. Record that time as “trim time.”10.3 Flame SpreadWhen required, determine spread offlame characteristics in accordance with Test Method E84(note that foam sealants are tested in the “Caulkings andSealants” methodol

36、ogy rather than the “Foamed Plastics”methodology). Foam sealants are typically tested as nominal 2cm (34-in.) diameter beads laid down in strips on cementitiousboard, with the percent coverage of foam beads per surfacearea of board reported.NOTE 2Typically, bead foam sealants are flamed spread teste
