Physical Requirements5.1 At the time of delivery to the pur
21、chaser, units shallconform to the physical requirements prescribed in Table 1.5.1.1 When higher compressive strengths than those listedin Table 1 are specified, the tested average net area compres-sive strength of three units shall equal or exceed the specifiedcompressive strength, and the following
22、 single unit strengthrequirements shall apply.5.1.1.1 When the specified compressive strength is less than5000 psi, no single unit net area compressive strength testresult shall be less than the specified compressive strengthminus 500 psi.5.1.1.2 When the specified compressive strength is 5000 psior
23、 greater, no single unit net area compressive strength testresult shall be less than 90 % of the specified compressivestrength.5.2 At the time of delivery to the purchaser, the total lineardrying shrinkage of units shall not exceed 0.065 % when testedin accordance with Test Method C426.NOTE 4The pur
24、chaser is the public body or authority, association,corporation, partnership, or individual entering into a contract or agree-ment to purchase or install, or both, concrete facing brick. The time ofdelivery to the purchaser is FOB plant when the purchaser or thepurchasers agent transports the concre
25、te facing brick, or at the timeunloaded at the worksite if the manufacturer or the manufacturers agenttransports the concrete facing brick.6. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations6.1 No overall dimension (width, height, and length) shalldiffer by more than 618 in. (3.2 mm) from the specifieds
26、tandard dimensions.NOTE 5Standard dimensions of concrete facing brick are the manu-facturers designated dimensions. Nominal dimensions of modular sizeconcrete facing brick are equal to the standard dimensions plus thethickness of one mortar joint. Nominal dimensions of nonmodular sizeconcrete facing
27、 brick usually exceed the standard dimensions by18 to14in. (3.2 to 6.4 mm).6.1.1 For those units with faces altered for aestheticpurposes, overall dimensional tolerances apply only to thosedimensions not affected by the altering.NOTE 6For such units, dimensions will vary. Consult with suppliersto de
28、termine achievable dimensional tolerances.6.2 For cored concrete facing brick, the net cross-sectionalarea in any plane parallel to the surface containing the coresshall be at least 75 % of the gross cross-sectional areameasured in the same plane. No part of any hole shall be lessthan34 in. (19.1 mm
29、) from any edge of the unit.7. Finish and Appearance7.1 All units shall be sound and free of cracks or otherdefects that interfere with the proper placement of the units orsignificantly impair the strength or permanence of the construc-tion. Minor cracks incidental to the usual method of manufac-tur
30、e or minor chipping resulting from customary methods ofhandling in shipment and delivery are not grounds for rejec-tion.7.2 Where units are to be used in exposed wall construc-tion, the faces shall not show chips or cracks not otherwisepermitted or other imperfections when viewed from a distanceof n
31、ot less than 20 ft (6.1 m) under diffused lighting.7.2.1 Five percent of a shipment containing chips, notlarger than12 in. (12.7 mm) in any dimension, or cracks notwider than 0.02 in. (0.5 mm) and not longer than 25 % of thenominal height of the unit, is permitted.7.3 The color and texture shall be
32、specified by the purchaser.The exposed faces shall conform to an approved sampleconsisting of not less than four units, representing the range oftexture and range of color permitted.8. Methods of Sampling and Testing8.1 The purchaser or authorized representative shall beaccorded proper facilities to
33、 inspect and sample the concretefacing brick at the place of manufacture from the lots ready fordelivery.8.2 Sample and test concrete facing brick in accordancewith Test Methods C140 and Test Method C426, when appli-cable.8.3 Total linear drying shrinkage shall be based on tests ofconcrete facing br

37、634 1129. Compliance9.1 If a sample fails to conform to the specified physicalrequirements, the manufacturer shall be permitted to removeunits from the shipment. A new sample shall be selected by thepurchaser from remaining units from the shipment with asimilar configuration and dimension and tested

If the second sample meets the specifiedphysical requirements, the remaining portion of the shipmentrepresented by the sample meets the specified physical require-ments. If the second sample fails to meet the specified physicalrequirements, the remaining portion o
