Scope*1.1 This practice is intended to provide accepted proceduresto designers and installers of adhered manufactured stonemasonry

3、 veneer in residential and commercial construction.This information is meant to complement the specific installa-tion instructions provided by manufacturers of adhered manu-factured stone masonry veneers and recognized building codes,but is not meant to replace them. This practice does not addressin

4、stallation methods or techniques for all materials in thebuilding envelope. This practice covers the installation ofadhered manufactured stone masonry veneer units for applica-tion as adhered veneer to exterior and interior walls, columns,landscape structures and other structures suitable to receive

5、adhered veneer. The units included in this practice are manu-factured to meet the requirements of Specification C1670/C1670M. This practice is limited to the installation of units.This practice does not cover all flashing or moisture manage-ment requirements. Refer to the applicable building code an

6、dproject documents for additional flashing and moisture man-agement requirements.NOTE 1The Masonry Veneer Manufacturers Association (MVMA)publication Installation Guide for Adhered Concrete Masonry Veneerprovides generally accepted methods and details for installation andflashing.1.2 The values stat

38、 of 4.2.4.4 Cement BoardCementitious Backer Units shall com-ply with Specification C1325. Cement boards shall have beenevaluated for interior or exterior use in accordance withICC-ES Acceptance Criteria AC 376 by an ANSI-accreditedevaluation service.4.5 Mortar:4.5.1 Mortar shall comply with one of t

39、he following:4.5.1.1 Type N or Type S of Specification C270.4.5.1.2 Type N or Type S of Specification C1714/C1714M.4.5.1.3 ANSI A118.1-2013.1, ANSI A118.4-2013.1, orANSI A118.15-2012.1.NOTE 4Mortar may be specified by the proportion method or theproperty method of Specification C270.4.5.2 Admixtures

42、asonry surface shall be clean and free ofamounts of oils, acids, alkalies, salts, organic materials, orother substances that are deleterious to mortar or any metal inthe wall.5. Ambient Conditions5.1 Hot and Dry ConditionsIf the ambient conditionsexceed 100F (37C) or 90F (32C) with a wind velocitygr

43、eater than 8 mph (12.9 km/h) comply with the hot weatherconstruction requirements of local building code, the recom-mendations of adhered manufactured stone masonry veneerunit manufacturer and hot weather construction provisions ofTMS 602/ACI 530.1/ASCE 6. If there is a contradiction amongdocuments,

44、 local building code shall prevail.5.1.1 When adhered manufactured stone masonry veneer isapplied in hot or dry weather, before applying mortar, moistenthe scratch coat with a fine spray of water or a wet brush toprevent excessive absorption of water from the mortar. Thescratch coat shall appear wet

45、 but without free water on thesurface. Units shall also be moistened following the require-ments of 7.2.1.5.2 Freezing or Low TemperaturesAccelerating admix-tures shall comply with Specification C1384. Anti-freezeadmixtures to lower freezing point of mortar shall not be used.Accelerating admixtures

46、containing calcium chloride shall notbe used. If the ambient conditions are below 40F (4C), theinstallation shall comply with the cold weather constructionprovisions of TMS 602/ACI 530.1/ASCE 6.6. Substrate/Surface Preparation6.1 The substrates and preparation that follow are typicaland field proven

47、 applications. Installation over any othersubstrate requires the approval of the unit manufacturer.6.1.1 Alternative surface preparation shall be tested inaccordance with Test Method C482 as modified by thispractice. The minimum shear bond strength between the unitand the prepared surface shall be 5

48、0 psi (0.34 MPa). Refer tothe modifications outlined in Appendix X1.6.2 Masonry:6.2.1 Install units directly on masonry that is clean and freeof paint, dirt, sealers, loose or spalling material.6.2.2 All masonry surfaces that are dirty, painted, coatedwith curing compounds or surface sealed, shall b

49、e cleaned bypower washing, sandblasting, beadblasting or appropriate sol-vent to form a substrate suitable for bonding. If the surfacecondition cannot support direct application, install lath. Ifmasonry wall exhibits spalling, cracking or generaldeterioration, the wall shall be evaluated by the designer ofrecord for integrity before proceeding.6.3 Wood/Metal Framing:6.3.1 Water Resistive Barrier (WRB) InstallationInstalltwo separate layers of WRB outboard of the sheathingmaterial, in accordance with the WRB manufacturers instal-lation instruct
