Scope*1.1 This specification covers lightweight aggregates in-t

3、ended for use in concrete not exposed to the weather, in whichthe prime consideration is the thermal insulating property ofthe resulting concrete.1.2 The text of this standard references notes and footnoteswhich provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes(excluding those in tables and fi

Classification3.1 Two general types of lightweight aggregate are coveredby this specification as follows:3.1.1 Group IAggregates prepared by expanding productssuch as perlite or vermiculite.NOTE 1These aggregates generally pr

9、oduce concrete having a densityfrom 15 to 50 lb/ft3(240 to 800 kg/m3), the thermal conductivity of whichmay be expected to range from 0.45 to 1.50 Btuin/hft2F (0.065 to 0.22W/mK).3.1.2 Group IIAggregates prepared by expanding, calcin-ing, or sintering products such as blast-furnace slag, clay,diatom

10、ite, fly ash, shale, or slate; and aggregates prepared byprocessing natural materials, such as pumice, scoria, or tuff.NOTE 2These aggregates generally produce concrete having a densityfrom 45 to 90 lb/ft3(720 to 1440 kg/m3), the thermal conductivity ofwhich may be expected to range from 1.05 to 3.0

11、0 BTUin/hft2 F (0.15to 0.43 W/mK).3.2 The aggregate shall be composed predominantly oflightweight cellular and granular inorganic material.4. Physical Properties4.1 Insulating PropertiesThe thermal insulating proper-ties of concrete made from the lightweight aggregate under testshall conform to the

If the finen

16、ess modulus of the aggregate differs bymore than 7 % from that of the sample submitted for accep-tance, the aggregate is subject to rejection, unless the supplierdemonstrates that it will produce concrete of the requiredcharacteristics.4.3 Loose Bulk Density (Test Method C 29/C 29M)Thedry loose bulk

17、 density of lightweight aggregates shall conformto the requirements shown in Table 2.4.3.1 Uniformity of Loose Bulk DensityThe dry loosebulk density of successive shipments of lightweight aggregatesshall not differ by more than 10 % from that of the samplesubmitted for acceptance.5. Sampling and Tes

18、ting for Aggregate Properties5.1 Sample lightweight aggregates and determine the prop-erties enumerated in this specification in accordance with thefollowing methods:5.1.1 SamplingPractice D75, except sample bagged ma-terials by riffling and then quartering.5.1.2 GradingMethod C 136, except that whe

Test Methods for Insulating Concrete Properties6.1 Determine the density and thermal co

22、nductivity of theconcrete in accordance with the following methods:6.1.1 Specimen PreparationPrepare three specimens foreach type of test, applying the same composition and fabrica-tion procedure as is proposed for use. Moist-cure the speci-mens for 7 days and then remove them from the moist roomand

23、 store at a temperature of 73.4 6 3F(236 1.7 C) and ata relative humidity of 50 6 5 % until the time of test. Dry thespecimens at the age of 28 days in an oven at 230 6 18 F (1106 10 C) and weigh them at 24-h intervals until the loss inmass does not exceed 1 % in a 24-h period.6.1.2 Concrete Density

30、 cure the specimens in accordance with 6.1.1. Thedimensions of the specimens shall be as required for the testingequipment available. Report the details of the composition andfabrication procedure used in preparing the specimens.7. Rejection and Rehearing7.1 Material that fails to conform to the req

31、uirements of thisspecification is subject to rejection. Rejection shall be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the result of the test, the producer orsupplier shall make claim for a rehearing.7.2 The purchaser of materials covered by this speci

32、ficationshall have the option of evaluating these materials for rejectionby either minimum mass or approximate volume as stated.7.3 Individual packages are subject to rejection when:7.3.1 The contents, on a mass basis, are 5 % less than thatindicated on the package, or7.3.2 The contents, on a volume

33、 basis, are 10 % less thanthat indicated on the package.7.4 The entire shipment is subject to rejection.7.4.1 On a mass basis when the average contents of twopackages for each 100, but not less than 6 packages selected atrandom, in any one shipment, are less than that indicated on thepackage.7.4.2 O

34、n a volume basis when the average contents of twopackages for each 100, but not less than 6 packages selected atrandom, in any one shipment differ by more than 5 % from thatindicated on the package.7.5 The net mass of the contents shall be determined byweighing the package or packages and deducting

35、the mass ofthe container.7.6 The volume of the contents in the package shall becalculated by determining the mass of the contents of thepackage and then obtaining the bulk density of the aggregate,from an average mass package of the samples selected in 7.4.2,by the procedure given in Test Method C 2

36、9/C 29M and thendividing the mass of the contents of the bag by the bulk densityof aggregate.8. Certification8.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certification shall be furnished to thepurchaser that the material was manufactured, sampled, tested,and inspecte

37、d in accordance with this specification and hasbeen found to meet the requirements. When specified in thepurchase order or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.9. Packaging and Package Marking9.1 When lightweight aggregates covered by this specifica-tion are delivered in packages

38、, the name of the manufacturer,type of aggregate, and minimum mass and approximate vol-ume of the contents shall be plainly indicated thereon.10.
