Imagine driving home from work and calling your computer and having it start dinner for you. Have it adjust th

25、e temperature so your home will be a comfortable temperature when you arrive. Window covering will be adjusted to allow the correct amount of sunlight in. Light fixtures will automatically adjust to the right level of the light in your home. Furthermore, the way of business conducted is entirely cha

27、go to a place of employment. They will work at their homes via the computers. For those who have to drive to work it will become less stressful as computers help to keep traffic congestion down. Cars will have onboard computers to keep them aware of road conditions, traffic backups, and which route

28、is best to take. Onboard computer will also replace maps and give directions from your current location to where you are going. If you happen to get lost your computer will get you back to the correct road. In addition, the education system will also join the computer age. Every student will have ac

29、cess to a computer. Text books will be on disks. Students will have access to a vast amount of reference material via the computer modem from far away universities and other institutions. Home work will be done on the computer. (7) Instead of turning in papers on which you have done your homework yo

30、u will either turn in a disk or send it to your teachers by a modem. Teachers will no longer have to spend hours grading papers. Homework and in class work will be graded by the computer. After we have explained the definition of multicultural education, then we need to figure out the way to teach students multicultura

44、lism. But how? When a child opens his (or her) first puzzle and the pieces fall to the ground, it may seem very confusing. What are they going to do with this pile of shapes in front of them? It often takes a parent to explain to them that all the different pieces fit together into one whole picture

45、. Although every piece is different and unique, when they are all put into their place they form one whole picture. In the same way, teachers can teach multiculturalism in the classroom. By adding a multicultural component to their curriculums, teachers can help students see how each individual fits

46、 into the big picture. (2) Although every member of our society is unique, with different cultural backgrounds, we all fit together to form one unit. Actually, understanding our own identity and the culture of our community requires knowledge and recognition of our cultures and communities and how t

47、hey have shaped us. I hold the firm belief that multicultural education should be part of the curriculum that all students should experience. There are, however, arguments against multicultural education. (3) For example, some critics believe that multicultural education is directed toward only mino

48、rity groups, thus discriminating against middle class, white, and heterosexual males. Others believe that multiculturalism is against Western and democratic ideals. A final argument is the claim that multiculturalism will divide our presumably united nation. Although critics of multicultural educati

49、on may feel they have valid arguments against the issue, I feel that the goals of multicultural education make it an important part of the curriculum that will benefit every student. Furthermore, as is well acknowledged, awareness is a key component to multiculturalism. Students must become aware of their own culture and how they are similar and different from others. Awarenes
