Males aged under 15 watch an average of 15 hours of TV per week, which is almost half of the 26 hours that females spend watching it. This figure t

5、hen rises to 18 hours a week for males aged 15-25 (the highest number of hours for males), before falling to 16 for males aged 26-35. There is a further drop to 10 hours per week for males aged 36-45 (the lowest number of hours for males). Thereafter, the figures rise to 15 hours per week for males

6、aged 46-55, with a further rise to 17 hours for males aged over 55. On average, females aged under 15 watch more hours of TV (26) than any other age group of either gender. This figure falls to 20 hours for females aged 15-25, followed by a further drop to 17 hours for those aged 26-35, with yet ano

Of course, few people actually like

9、doing this, but most people, including myself, accept that it is necessary. Others say that it is not necessary at all and believe that people should keep all the money they earn. If people didnt pay income tax, the government would still have to get money from somewhere. In countries where people d

10、o not pay income tax, the government has other sources of income. For example, citizens of many oil-rich countries do not pay any income tax because their governments raise revenue from the sale of oil. In countries where there is no such alternative, income tax would have to be replaced with taxes

11、on consumption and with duties on imports and exports. This could place a disproportionate burden on businesses, rather than spreading the cost of government services between the business sector and individual citizens. A few people claim that we could get rid of income tax by reducing the services

12、that government provides. I really think that this would be a bad idea. The things that the government provides are usually very expensive, such as education, health, defence and infrastructure. If the government didnt provide these things, there is no certainty that businesses would be able to prov

13、ide them efficiently. The difference between good and bad schools, already great, would become intolerable. The level of health care at certain poorly funded hospitals might become so low as to become a health risk to the rest of society. Defence is something that almost all economists accept it is

14、impossible for private businesses to provide for an entire country. To conclude, I think that it is absolutely necessary for individuals to pay income tax, unless there is a viable alternative source of income. Government provides services for the whole population that it would be incredibly difficult to provide by other means.
