6、10-15 minutes) 1 【正 确答案】 1. When you go shopping, do you prefer to pay for things in cash or by card? Why? 1 I really like using cash rather than credit or debit cards. For me, I just find it easier. I dont need to remember my PIN when I go out, and I can use cash absolutely everywhere. Some shops

7、will only accept some cards, which means that I often have to take 2 or maybe 3 of them out with me. Its just cumbersome. 2 If those are the only options, then I would say card. In reality, though, as you may know, WeChat and Alipay are far more popular these days. When I go out it means I dont have

8、 to worry about losing my wallet or my purse, I just have to take my phone. 2. Do you ever save money to buy special things? Why/Why not? 1 To be honest, no. I havent ever had a job as Im still a student. Mostly, in fact all the time, I use my parents cards and money. If I want to buy something, I j

9、ust ask my Mum. Saving is something I know is important, but not for me, not quite yet. 2 When I was much younger, I would say yes. Quite often I would save my pocket money and buy my friends or even sometimes my mum little gifts to make them happy. These days though, not so much because even though

Why/Why not? 1 Not for any real length of time, no. I realise that after I graduate, my first jobs salary wont b

11、e that high. But I wouldnt want it to stay that way. Id expect to climb the ladder and progress up the ranks within a company so that, after a few years, I would be on a respectable salary. 2 Yes, actually the job I mentioned just now is very low pay. Its mainly because Im still young and a universi

I think generally, its good for me because I am gaining knowledge and expertise, and it will look good on my CV when I apply for things like my masters or even a job in the future. Overall though, its not something I would want to do for my career even if I really like

If you think a lot of money is something like half a million kuai, then no, not really. If however, its someth

14、ing like the Euro Millions and is 100 million Kuai, they most assuredly yes. Id give half to my parents so that they can retire, and Id probably use some of it for a spending spree. The rest I would use to invest and buy a house etc., but make sure that I have enough to live comfortably on without e

He also gave me some ideas about what type of job I could get in banking. I had no idea that there were so many. I wouldnt say I found it interesting, as

19、 such, more like thoroughly fascinating and, in that 15-minute chat, I probably learnt more about banking than I had in the last 6 months. His expertise and experience I found to be most enlightening and it gave me a lot to think about. I think I want to move towards to the Auditing side of banking

20、rather than something like loans and sales, but I have yet to really make up my mind. I feel a little like a kid in a sweet shop, so much choice that I actually cant make a decision. 21、her yesterday. It was about me studying in England during my final year at university. Obviously, Im current hoping to get a good score in my IELTS, so that I can go in about a years time and I wanted to know more about what I can expect from English people with regard to their culture, food and the

My English teacher is from London, but has been here in China for over 13 years, so he really understands the differences between the two countries, and I wanted to pick his brains about what he learnt. I wanted to understand the ins and outs of a regular persons life. You know, what they do

23、for fun, family life, hopes and dreams. He told me that English and Chinese people are actually very similar. I think this is because he is the type of person that looks for similarities and common ground rather than differences. He explained that their hopes and dreams were exactly the same as peop

24、le here: they want to have a good job, own a house, have a family and be healthy. It was a bit of a surprise to me, but once he said it, I knew it to be true. The UK apparently, has a large drinking culture, even the women go to the pub and get drunk. Im not sure if he was kidding about this, but I

25、dont think so. Of course people drink here too, but generally just with their family or friends and nearly always at dinner. Going out just for a drink is a bit alien to me. I think I found it interesting, almost surprising, because he didnt give me the answers I expected. Im not sure exactly what I

Whereas, I think some of my friends may not completely understand my problems, and run rather than help me fight. 2 Yes, I do. I think that my parents are sometimes too close to me and will not think about my issue objectivel

30、y, which just doesnt help. My friends on the other hand, can, and often give me good advice. Thats not to say I never speak with my family about difficulties, it just depends what the problem is. 3. Is it always a good idea to tell lots of people about a problem? 1 Definitely not. Like I said earlie

31、r, problems grow, they dont shrink. If Im not going to discuss problems with one person, Im as sure as hell not going to discuss it with lots. 2 In my opinion, sometimes, but not always. Its often quite a good thing when lots of people know youre having trouble because they can give you lots of help

32、 and generate a wide range of ideas. However, if it is a private or very personal problem, I really dont want any other than my close friends or family knowing about it. 4. Which communication skills are most important when taking part in meetings with colleagues? 1 I think probably the hardest, bes

33、t, but a really easy thing to do, is Listen. Many people just want to talk in meetings without listening to what others have to say. My father always taught me that we have two ears and only one mouth for a reason. 2 For me, being able to talk in a logical and coherent manner is, by far, the most im

34、portant skill needed when communicating with people, not only in a meeting, but also just in general. If you cant speak in a coherent way, the other people may misunderstand your point, and just get lost in your words. A bit like here, I know that one of the things you measure is Coherence. Hopefull

What are the possible effects of poor written communication skills at work? 1 I think probably the most obvious effect would be that people, you know, his colleagues may not be able to understand them. This could also mean that promotions are not offered and they will be

36、 stuck in a dead-end job. 2 Written communication in a job is not just important, its vital. I think perhaps that worst outcome would be getting fired, you know, getting the sack: or at least being made redundant. Another effect may be just that youll constantly have to repeat yourself to your colle

37、agues and co-workers because they dont understand your emails. Annoying, yes, fireworthy, maybe not. 6. What do you think will be the future impact of technology on communication in the workplace? 1 I think that social networking will have an even greater impact than it does now. People will be able

38、 to interact at a company level in the same way that they do now on a personal level. I also think that in the education field, social learning is becoming more prevalent and this will affect students like myself in a positive way. 2 Thats really not an easy question for me, as I dont work, Im still

39、 a student. If I had to guess Id suppose I could say that it will become even easier and faster to communicate. Maybe, instead of having a phone with a Bluetooth headset, we simply have an implant and we can dial just by thinking about someone. That may be in the far future, but Ive already heard about people implanting electronics into their bodies to get access to doors and even the subway.
