ASTM C716-2006(2015) Standard Specification for Installing Lock-Strip Gaskets and Infill Glazing Materials《锁条衬垫和填充玻璃材料安装的标准规格》.pdf

1、Designation: C716 06 (Reapproved 2015)Standard Specification forInstalling Lock-Strip Gaskets and Infill Glazing Materials1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C716; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, th

2、e year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers installation procedures forlock-strip gaskets that comply with Specification C542

3、and forinfill glazing materials in lockstrip gasket glazing applicationsused in building walls which are not more than 15 from avertical plane. The prime performance considerations areweathertightness against air and water infiltration, and struc-tural integrity under wind loads.1.2 The values state

Installation4.1 Inspection of ComponentsBefore installing gaskets, the installer shall check the mounting frames to see t

7、hat theyare within specified dimensional tolerances and not out-of-square or plane, and check all gaskets for type, dimensions, anddefects such as misalignment at molded corners and damagedlips. Installation shall not proceed until corrections have beenmade.4.2 Environmental ConditionsMaximum effici

During cold weather the use of temporaryenclosures around the units to be glazed or paneled willfacilitate temperature control and also aid in kee

Gaskets shallbe unpacked from their co

Racks shall be free of rough surfaces, projections, sharp edges, and other conditions that could damage thegaskets. When the ambient temperatur

11、e is 10C (50F) orbelow and a heated space is not available, gaskets shall beheated by other means to remove deformations and provide ahigh degree of flexibility and resiliency. This may be done bywarming them in hot water or heated containers. Gaskets shallnot be heated by being draped over heated u

12、nits or placed indirect contact with a flame or fired heating device. Theinstallation of glass, panel, and lock-strip shall be completedwhile the gasket is still warm and pliable and with the gasketchannels clean and dry.4.4 Use of ToolsTo minimize the possibility of damage, sharp or pointed tools or

13、 implements such as screwdrivers orputty knives shall not be used on lock-strip gaskets. Suitablegasket installation tools, such as nonmetallic spatulas andengineered lock-strip insertion devices, are available from thegasket manufacturer.4.5 Use of LubricantsIf necessary a lubricant may beapplied t

The lubricant shall be nonstaining, nontoxic, noncorrosive, chemically stable, compatible with all contactcomponents, easily removable from exposed surfaces by dry1This specification is

The void formedbetween the gasket and frame shall be sealed at the time ofinstallation with a wet sealant. However, the

19、sealant may beomitted if the system is designed to drain any water that entersto the exterior, and the omission of a wet sealant is agreeableto the purchaser and seller. Another condition would be at fieldbutt joints in gaskets. Such joints require the use of a sealantinstalled in, rather than on to

The wet sealant used, as well as the sealantmanufacturers requirements for cleaning and priming thesurfaces to be sealed, shall be compatible with the componentsin contact with it and acceptable to the manufacturers of thecomponents. The use of

21、wet sealants to remedy a defective ordamaged gasket or improperly fabricated supporting frameshall not be permitted, unless agreeable to the purchaser andseller.4.7 Installation of Single-Opening Gasket Systems:4.7.1 H-Type GasketInstall the upper gasket corners first, and then install the lower gask

Lubricate the surface of theexterior flange on the lock-strip side of the gasket channel thatis to receive the glass or panel. Beginning approximately 152.4to 203.2 mm (6 to 8 in.) above the bottom, o

Then, using two spatulas, lift gasket corners over the edge of the glass or panel. Centerthe glass or panel in the gasket for uniform edge

Lower the glass or panelonto the blocks, being careful not to displace them. Settingblocks under panels are optional but ar

The use ofsetting blocks for other types of glass products shall be inaccordance with the glass manufacturers recommendations. Ifnecessary, edge spacers may be installed at this time tomaintain uniform edge clearance and to

40、preclude lateraldisplacement of the glass or panel.4.11 Installation of Lock-StripAs soon as the glass andpanels are in place, install the lock-strip so that the assembly issecure and the gasket channel is sealed. Cut lock-strip for thesill to a length approximately 50.8 to 76.2 mm (2 to 3 in.)longe

Start installation of the lock-strip at the sill, trying to keep it under compression instead of tension andleaving an excess of lock-strip at both ends. Repeat t

To avoid any later creep ordrawback of the lock-strip from the corners, trim the lock-stripends approximately 3.2 to 6.4 mm (18 to14 in.) longer than thelock-strip cavity using garden pruning shears or diagonalcutters, and crowd the lock-strip into place using a nonm
