Classification4.1 The flexible fibrous glass insulation is furnished in two types, as follows:4.1.1 Type IGlass processed from the molt

17、en state into fibrous form, bonded with a thermosetting resin, and formed into ablanket or batt.4.1.2 Type IIType I material supplied with a suitable facing adhered to one surface.NOTE 1Facing properties are not part of this specification. The designer is referred to Practice C755 and Specification

18、C1136 for guidance in selectingwater vapor permeance and other physical property requirements.5. Ordering Information5.1 Type I material shall be ordered by specifying thermal resistance value, length, and width.5.2 Type II material shall be ordered by specifying thermal resistance value, type of fa

19、cing, facing permeance, length, width,number of tabs, and tab width.5.3 Certification, when required, shall be in accordance with Section 11.6. Physical Properties6.1 Type 1 Material:6.1.1 Thermal ResistanceThe thermal resistance of the pre-processed insulation shall be determined in accordance with

20、 Guideunfaced insulation shall meet C653. The average R-value from nine randomly selected specimens, three specimens from each ofthree rolls, shall not be less than 103 % of the Rfollowing-value agreed upon by the purchaser and the supplier. Use Test Methodrequirements:C177 or C518 at 75F (23.9C) wi

21、th a minimum temperature difference of 40F (20C) for determining apparentthermal conductivity. Use the full roll method fromTest Method C167 to determine the average thickness for each roll and evaluateat the lesser of measured or label thickness.6.1.1.1 Thermal ResistanceThe average R-value of nine

22、 tests, one each performed on three randomly selected specimens fromeach of three rolls, shall be not less than 103 % of the R-value agreed upon by the purchaser and the supplier.(1) The average thickness of each roll shall be determined byTest Method C167 and the lesser of measured or labeled thick

23、nesstested.(2) The thermal resistance of the pre-processed (unlaminated) insulation shall be determined in accordance with Guide C653,using either Test Method C177 or C518 at a mean temperature of 75F (23.9C) with a minimum temperature difference of 40F(22C) for determining the apparent thermal cond

24、uctivity.NOTE 2See Guide C653. The thermal resistance is a function of temperature. As an option, the thermal resistance may be determined at additionaltemperatures as agreed upon by the purchaser and the manufacturer.6.1.2 Surface Burning CharacteristicsThe surface burning characteristics shall be

25、determined in accordance withTest MethodE84. For Canada, test in accordance with Test Method CAN/ULC-S102. When the referenced Canadian document in thisspecification is referred to in applicable Canadian building codes, the editions, referenced by those building codes, shall govern.Results shall be

26、no greater than:Flame spread 25Smoke developed 506.1.3 Combustion CharacteristicsThe material shall pass the requirements of Test Method E136.6.1.4 Water Vapor SorptionThe water vapor sorption from exposure to water vapor shall not be greater than 0.2 % by volumewhen determined in accordance with th

27、e procedure set forth in Test Method C1104/C1104M.6.1.5 Fungi ResistanceWhen tested in accordance with the procedure set forth in Test Method C1338, the insulation shallexhibit no growth.6.1.6 CorrosivenessWhen tested in accordance with the procedure in Specification C665, the metal plates in contac

28、t with theinsulation shall show no greater corrosion than that observed on the comparative plates in contact with sterile cotton.6.1.7 Odor EmissionWhen tested in accordance with Test Method C1304, the insulation shall not emit a detectable odorobjectionable to more than two of the five panel member

29、s.6.1.8 Dimensional TolerancesThe average measured length and width shall not differ from the manufacturers standarddimensions, when determined in accordance with Test Methods C167, (Note 3) by more than the following:Length, 0 in. (0 mm)Width, 18 in. (3 mm)NOTE 3Normally, a slight excess in all dim

30、ensions will be permitted. However, the purchaser may elect to specify a maximum tolerance to meetfurther processing requirements.C991 1526.2 Type II Material:6.2.1 Type II shall be faced on one side with a suitable facing and exhibit the following.consist of a Type I blanket laminatedwith a facing.

31、6.2.1.1 The facing shall meet the requirements of Specification C1136 for corrosion resistance, fungi resistance, andnon-leachability (permanence) of flame retardants, as certified by the facing supplier.6.2.2 Thermal ResistanceThe thermal resistance of the post-processed insulation shall be determi

32、ned in accordance withGuide C653. The average R-value from nine randomly selected specimens, three specimens from each of three rolls, shall not beless than 95 % of the R-value agreed upon by the purchaser and the supplier. Use Test Method C177 or C518 at 75F (23.9C)with a minimum temperature differ

33、ence of 40F (20C) for determining apparent thermal conductivity. Use Test Methods C167to determine the average thickness for each roll.6.2.3 Surface Burning CharacteristicsDetermine the surface burning characteristics on the facing side of the compositematerial. in accordance with Test Method E84. Results shall be no greaterthan:Flame spread 25Smoke developed 506.2.4 Combustion CharacteristicsThe base insulation material shall pass the requirements of Test Method E136.6.2.5 Water Vapor SorptionThe water vapor sorption of the base material shall

41、 no exceeding 50 when tested on the facing side in accordance with either Test Method E84 or with CAN/ULCS102, depending on the applicable code requirements.6.2.2.3 Fungi ResistanceThe adhesive shall be tested separately per Test Method C1338 by the supplier and shall exhibit nogrowth, as certified

42、by the adhesive supplier.6.2.2.4 IntegrityLaminated insulation shall not exhibit obvious oxidation/corrosion, discoloration or delamination of facing,nor exhibit lack of adhesion of facing to insulation when inspected visually.6.2.2.5 Dimensional TolerancesThe average measured length and width shall

43、 not differ from the manufacturers standarddimensions, when determined in accordance with Test Methods C167, (Note 4) by more than the following:Length, 0 in. (0 mm)Width, 18 in. (3 mm)NOTE 4Normally, a slight excess in all dimensions will be permitted. However, the purchaser may elect to specify a

44、maximum tolerance to meetfurther processing requirements.6.2.10 Humid AgingThe faced material, when tested in accordance with the procedures in Test Method C1258, shall notexhibit (a) corrosion of the facing, (b) delamination of the facing, or (c) lack of adhesion of facing to insulation.7. Workmans

45、hip7.1 Both Type I and Type II material shall exhibit good workmanship and shall not have visible defects that adversely affectits serviceability.C991 1538. Sampling8.1 Quality control records, maintained by the manufacturer, will usually suffice in the relationship between the purchaser andthe manu

46、facturer. If they mutually agree to accept lots on the basis of quality control records, no further sampling is required.8.2 If the above procedure is not acceptable, sampling shall be in conformance with Practice C390.9. Inspection9.1 Inspection of the material shall be agreed upon between the purc

47、haser and the supplier as part of the purchase contract.10. Rejection and Rehearing10.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements of this specification shall constitute cause for rejection. Rejection shallbe reported to the producer or supplier promptly and in writing.10.2 The producer or s

48、upplier shall have the option to reinspect rejected shipments and resubmit the entire lot for inspectionand resampling after the removal and replacement of nonconforming portions.11. Certification11.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, a producers, suppliers or independent third party

49、s certification shallbe furnished to the purchaser indicating that the material was manufactured, sampled, tested, and inspected in accordance with thisspecification and has been found to meet the requirements. When specified in the purchase order or contract, a report of the testresults shall be furnished.12. Health and Safety Hazards12.1 The manufacturer shall provide the users with information regarding any hazards and recommended protective measuresto be employed for safe installation and
