Classification3.1 This specification covers the following types of polyes-ter molding compounds:3.1.1 Type 1General-purpose, granular material with min-eral fillers.3.1.2 Type 2General-purpose, granular material with min-eral and cellulo

General Requirements4.1 The molding compounds shall be of uniform composi-tion, so compounded as to conform to the requirementsprescribed in this specification.4.2 The apparent density, bulk factor, particle size, physi

10、calform, and color of the compound shall be as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and supplier.NOTE 3The terms “apparent density,” “bulk factor,” and “particlesize” cannot be used in the same sense with putty-type and glass-filledmaterials as with granular materials.5. Detail Requirements5.1 Test spec

11、imens, molded by compression under condi-tions specified by the manufacturer, shall conform to therequirements prescribed in Table 1.6. Sampling6.1 Abatch of molding compound shall be considered a unitof manufacture and may consist of a blend of two or moreproduction runs of the same material.6.2 Ad

12、equate statistical sampling shall be used.7. Number of Tests8.1 One set of test specimens as prescribed in Section 7shall be considered sufficient for testing each batch. Theaverage result for the specimens tested shall conform to therequir

19、ements prescribed in this specification. All of the testslisted in Section 7 shall be used to establish conformity of amaterial to this specification. It is recommended that routineinspection be limited to those tests required to identify thematerial to the satisfaction of the purchaser. The purchas

20、ershall state in the contract or order the tests which themanufacturer will be required to make on each shipment foridentification of the material.9. Rejection and Rehearing9.1 Compounds that fail to conform to the requirements ofthis specification may be rejected. Rejection should be reportedto the

21、 producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the results of the test, the producer orsupplier may make claim for a rehearing.10. Packaging and Package Marking10.1 PackagingThe compound shall be packaged in stan-dard commercial containers, so constructed as to ensurea

22、cceptance by common or other carriers for safe transportationat the lowest rate to the point of delivery, unless otherwisespecified in the contract or order.10.2 Package MarkingShipping containers shall bemarked with the name of the compound, type, color, and thequantity contained therein as defined

23、 by the contract or orderunder which shipment is made, the name of the manufacturer,and the number of the contract or order.10.3 All packing, packaging, and marking provisions ofPractice D 3892 shall apply to this specification.11.
