Scope1.1 This specification covers w

3、oven burlap fabrics, satu-rated with either asphalt or refined coal-tar, as specified by thepurchaser, for use in the membrane system of roofing orwaterproofing or as specified by the manufacturer.1.1.1 Asphalt-saturated burlap fabric shall be used withasphalt base plying cement; typical ones are mo

Materials and Manufacture4.1 The fabric to be saturated shall be composed of 100 %jute fiber except for two cotton threads i

8、n each selvage. If theselvage is used, it shall be no more than 6 mm (14 in.) wide.The minimum fabric construction used shall be 180 g/m2(5.4oz/yd2) minimum burlap.4.2 In the process of manufacture, the dry burlap fabric shallbe saturated with bitumen.5. Physical Properties5.1 The material shall con

9、form to the physical propertiesprescribed in Table 1.5.2 The rolls shall not crack nor be so sticky as to causetearing or material damage upon being unrolled at temperaturesbetween 10 and 60C (50 and 140F).5.3 Resistance to RottingThe average percentage of theoriginal strength retained by the satura

10、ted product shall be atleast 1.75 times that retained by the control sample after oneweek.6. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance6.1 The burlap fabric shall be thoroughly and uniformlysaturated in such a manner that every fiber shall be visiblystained through by the saturant.6.2 The meshes of the fab

11、ric shall not be completely closedor sealed by the process of saturation. 15、hall be uniformly smooth and free ofirregularities, folds, and knots.6.5 The finished material shall be free of visible externaldefects, such as ragged or untrue edges, breaks, rents, orcracks.7. Sampling and Test Methods7.1 Sample the material and determine the properties enu-merated in this specif

16、ication in accordance with Test MethodsD 146.7.2 Determine resistance to rotting by the soil burial methoddescribed in Test 1 of AATCC Test Method 30-1974, modifiedas follows:7.2.1 The control sample shall consist of at least fivespecimens of 238 g/m2(7-oz/1 yd2) untreated Osnaburg con-taining not m

17、ore than 8 % sizing.7.2.2 Place each control specimen in the soil between twospecimens of the warp and two specimens of the filling of thesaturated fabric, all parallel to each other and approximately 25mm (1 in.) apart. Remove all specimens for testing after oneweek.7.2.3 The soil shall be sufficie

18、ntly active to decrease thestrength of the Osnaburg at the end of the week to 25 % or lessof its original strength; if not, repeat the exposure with freshsoil and fresh specimens.8. Inspection8.1 InspectionInspection shall be in accordance with therequirements of this specification.8.2 Inspection Al

19、ternativesAlternative inspection require-ments shall be determined by and as agreed upon between thepurchaser and the supplier.9. Rejection and Resubmittal9.1 Failure to ConformFailure to conform to any of therequirements as stated in this specification constitutes groundsfor rejection.9.2 Rejection

20、 RedressThe supplier shall have the right toinspect the rejected materials. The supplier and the purchasershall agree to the quantity of rolls deemed unacceptable. Thesupplier shall then have the right to submit the same number ofnew rolls as replacement.10. Packaging and Package Marking10.1 Unless

21、otherwise agreed upon between the supplierand purchaser, each product package shall be plainly markedwith the suppliers name, the product brand, the ASTMdesignation, and type of bitumen if not evident in the labelname of the product.10.2 The rolls shall be securely wrapped or banded in amanner that

22、completely encircles the roll and will preventslipping or unrolling.10.3 The rolls of saturated burlap fabric shall be wound onmandrels or rigid hollow fiber cylinders not less than 50 mm (2in.) in diameter, extending not more than 100 mm (4 in.)beyond the ends of the rolls.10.4 No roll shall contai

23、n more than two pieces, and nomore than 3 % of the rolls in any lot shall contain two pieces.If a roll contains a manufacturing splice, the splice shall beclearly marked.11.
