1、Designation: D1573/D1573M 95 (Reapproved 2009)1Standard Test Method forHeat Aging of Asbestos Textiles1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D1573/D1573M; the number immediately following the designation indicates theyear of original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of la

A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1NOTEUnits information was corrected editorially in March 2010.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the heat aging of asbestostextile

3、s. It may be used to determine the resistance to thedeterioration of tensile strength at temperatures up to 450C800F.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsys

Significance and Use4.1 This test method covers the evaluation of asbestostextiles with regard to (1) quality and (2) elevated temperatureserviceability characteristics. Since asbestos textiles are usu-ally composed of blends of asbestos with cotton or ot

9、herorganic carrier fibers, the latter being present in amounts up to25 %, temperatures above 150C 300F will promote thedegradation of the cotton content and will reduce the structuralreinforcement derived therefrom. In the higher grade asbestostextiles, wherein little or no carrier fibers are used a

10、nd in whichthe longer asbestos fibers are necessary if a satisfactory yarn isto be produced, the degradation in strength resulting fromheat-aging up to 540C 1000F is low. In the case of thelower grade asbestos textiles, however, wherein amounts from15 to 25 % carrier fibers are incorporated, asbesto

Under the relativelylow service temperatures to which such materials may besubjected, neither the cotton nor the cloth properties are greatlyaffected. However, the strength-imparting influence of thecarrier fibers is reduced at elevated temperatures an

12、d theentwining properties of the shorter asbestos fibers primarilyserve to establish the resultant tensile strength and otherphysical properties of the textile. In view of this, elevatedtemperature tests may serve to indicate the asbestos fiber gradeor quality that may be used in a textile construct

13、ion.4.2 Another use and perhaps more practical application forthe information to be derived from elevated temperaturestudies is the revelation of the ability of a subject textile towithstand known elevated temperature service conditions. Itwill be appreciated that temperature alone may not be the on
