Classification3.1 This specification provides for the identification of threetypes of allyl mold

8、ing compounds, based on the general type offiller employed in their manufacture, which shall be distin-guished by the requirements prescribed in Table 1.Type IHigh-strength materials, glass-fiber reinforced.Type IIGeneral-purpose mineral filled.Type IIIGeneral-purpose synthetic fiber filler.3.2 Type

9、s I and II may be subdivided into four classesaccording to resin composition and use as follows:Class ADiallyl ortho-phthalate resin, nonflame-retardant.Class BDiallyl ortho-phthalate resin, flame-retardant.Class CDiallyl meta-phthalate resin nonflame-retardant.Class DDiallyl meta-phthalate resin, f

10、lame-retardant.3.3 The four classes of Type I are subdivided as follows:ClassesA, B, C, and D into four grades. For Type II each of thefour classes is subdivided into two grades. For Type III onlyClass A compounds are produced and are available in threegrades.4. General Requirements4.1 The molding c

11、ompound shall be of uniform compositionand so compounded as to conform to the requirements of thisspecification.4.2 Although other than allyl resin may be added for flameresistance and other purposes, the major part of the resinportion shall be diallyl ortho-phthalate or diallyl meta-phthalate.4.3 T

12、he apparent density, bulk factor, particle size, physicalform, and color of the compounds shall be as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and supplier.5. Detail Requirements5.1 Average results obtained on test specimens, eachcompression-molded using the manufacturers recommendedtechniques, shall confor

13、m to the requirements listed in Table 2.6. 16、and may consist of a blend of two or moreproduction runs of the same material.NOTE 3Some molding compounds are light and fluffy. The resin mayhave a tendency to separate out to a degree and should be thoroughlymixed before sampling.7. Specimen Preparation7.1 Test specimens shall be compression molde

17、d in accor-dance with Practice D 5224.8. Conditioning8.1 ConditioningMolded test specimens of allyl moldingcompounds shall be conditioned in accordance with ProcedureB of Practice D 618, unless otherwise specified in the testmethods or in this specification.8.2 Tests shall be conducted in the standa

18、rd laboratoryatmosphere of 23 6 2C and 50 6 5 % relative humidity,unless otherwise specified in the test methods or in thisspecification.9. Test Methods39.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with the following methods:9.2 Impact Resistance (Izod) Test M

19、ethod D 256, MethodA. Test specimens shall be 12.7 by 12.7 by 63.5 mm.9.3 Flexural StrengthTest Methods D 790 Procedure A.Test specimens shall be 6.4 by 12.7 by 127-mm bars testedparallel to molding pressure.9.4 Permittivity and Dissipation FactorTest MethodsD 150. Measure the permittivity and dissi

20、pation factor at 1 kHzand 1 MHz after conditioning by Procedure B of PracticeD 618. Determine permittivity and dissipation factor afterconditioning 48 h at 50C followed by Procedure D of PracticeD 618. Use 102 by 3.2-mm disks for 1 kHz frequency and 51by 3.2-mm disks for 1 MHz frequency.9.5 Insulati

21、on ResistanceTest Methods D 257, using a3.2-mm thick by 102-mm diameter disk fitted with bindingpost electrodes of the type shown in the figure illustratingBinding-Post Electrodes for Flat, Solid Specimens of TestMethods D 257. Cut two sections from the disk so that thesection under test is similar

22、to the figure cited above. Scrubwith soapy water, rinse in distilled water, and rinse withisopropyl alcohol. Air dry the sample before assembly, usingstainless steel terminals which have been washed in isopropylalcohol. The use of clean cotton or polyethylene gloves duringassembly is required since

23、skin oils contaminate the plasticsurface and have been shown to seriously affect results. Insertone binding post through a hole drilled through the center ofthe disk. Space the other two electrodes 32 mm from the centerelectrode. Make test measurements between the center elec-trode and each of the o

24、ther binding posts. The machine screwand washers shall be of stainless steel, the screw of a size tomatch the washer size specified in the figure illustratingBinding-Post Electrodes for Flat, Solid Specimens of TestMethods D 257. Two specimens may then be mounted in awide-mouth jar with the leads go

25、ing through a TFE-fluorocarbon cover. Condition each specimen 720 h at 60Cand 95 % relative humidity, and measure the insulation resis-tance under the same conditions without removal from theenvironmental chamber.9.6 Flame ResistanceMethod II under Flame Resistanceof Test Method D 229. The specimen

26、shall be 12.7 by 12.7 by127 mm.9.7 Oxygen IndexTest Method D 2863. Test specimensshall be 3.2 by 6.4 by 127 mm.10. Inspection10.1 Inspection of the compound shall be agreed uponbetween the purchaser and supplier as part of the purchasecontract.11. Rejection and Rehearing11.1 Compound that fails to c

27、onform with the requirementsof this specification may be rejected. Rejection should bereported to the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. Incase of dissatisfaction with the results of the test, the produceror supplier may make claim for a rehearing.NOTE 4In the case of short shelf-life mat

28、erials it is the responsibilityof the purchaser to expedite the tests and to keep the material at optimumstorage conditions until returned in case of failure.12. Packaging and Package Marking12.1 PackagingThe compound shall be packaged in stan-dard commercial containers so constructed as to ensure a

29、ccep-tance by common or other carriers for safe transportation at thelowest rate to the point of delivery, unless otherwise specifiedin the contract or order.12.2 Package MarkingShipping containers shall bemarked with the name of the compound, type, class, grade,color lot or batch number, limiting s

30、helf-life data in commonstorage, the quantity contained therein as defined by thecontract or order, and the name of the manufacturer or histrademark.12.3 All packing, packaging, and marking provisions ofPractice D 3892 shall apply to this specification.13.
