It includes provisions for adhesive selection based on:(1) satisfactory machining characteristics on specific equip-ment, and (2) adequate adhesion under specified

This specification further provides for the controlof uniformity between lots of an adhesive selected on the abovebases by limiting variations in nonvolatile content and viscos-ity.1.2 This specification provides bases for adhesive selectionas well as product uniformity control. Physical Properties4.1 The general consistency shall be uniform, and theadhesive shall be free of lumps and particles.4.2 The machinin
8、g properties shall be such that the adhesive(when diluted in accordance with to the manufacturers instruc-tions) shall not string when machine transfer surfaces areseparated, shall not build up excessively on machine parts, andshall not foam.4.3 The bonding permanency of the adhesive shall providea
9、minimum of 75 % paper fiber tear when tested under theexposure conditions specified in the contract or purchase order.The exposure conditions shall be selected from those in Table 1of Test Method D 1581.5. Permissible Variations5.1 The nonvolatile content of the adhesive shall be within61.5 % of tha
10、t specified in the contract or purchase order.5.2 The consistency of the adhesive shall be within 620 %of that specified in the contract or purchase order.6. Sampling6.1 The adhesive sample shall be a 0.9-L (1-qt) aliquotconsisting of a composite taken when possible from three ormore separate contai
11、ners chosen at random. Samples also shallbe taken from containers that appear to be nonrepresentativeand shall be tested separately. Before a sample is withdrawn,mix the contents in the container to uniform consistency. Placethe sample immediately in an airtight glass jar until tested.6.2 Samples of
12、 adhesives used on fiberboard cases shall beof the same type used on the production line. Samples ofboards used for all bonding permanency tests shall be within adefined range of water absorptiveness to eliminate this variablefrom the test. Number of Tests8.1 The number of test specimens shall be as specified ineach method of test designated in Section 7. The average resultfor the
18、specimens tested shall conform to the requirementsprescribed in this specification.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test do not conform to the require-ments prescribed in this specification, at the option of themanufacturer, that test shall be repeated on two additional setsof specim
19、ens from the same lot of adhesive, each of whichshall conform to the requirements specified. If either of thesetwo additional sets of specimens fails, the lot or batch ofmaterial may be rejected at the option of the purchaser. Noticeof failure of material based on tests made in accordance withthis s
20、pecification shall be reported to the manufacturer.10. Packaging and Marking10.1 PackagingThe material shall be packaged in stan-dard commercial containers, so constructed as to ensureacceptance by common or other carrier for safe transportationat the lowest rate to the point of delivery, unless oth
21、erwisespecified in the contract or order.10.2 MarkingShipping containers shall be marked withthe following information:10.2.1 Manufacturers name, product code number, andbatch or lot number,10.2.2 Date of manufacture of product,10.2.3 Special handling instructions during product transfer,for example
