Summary of Test Method4.1 Specimens are laundered in laboratory equipment at alow liquor-to-goods ratio under conditions of temperature,bleaching, and abrasive action that produce the effect ofrepeated launderings in a conveniently short ti
8、me. The zippercoating is abraded by the throw, slide, and impact of anappropriate number of steel balls. The effects of the test onzipper coating are evaluated by noting the loss of coating onthe zipper chain or components, or both.5. Significance and Use5.1 Test Method D2051 is useful for testing t
9、o determine theeffect of repeated laundering on the appearance of the decora-tive coating of a zipper.5.2 This test method is considered satisfactory for accep-tance testing of commercial shipments because the method hasbeen used extensively in the trade for acceptance testing.5.2.1 If there are dif
10、ferences of practical significancebetween reported test results for two laboratories (or more),comparative test should be performed to determine if there is astatistical bias between them, using competent statistical assis-tance. As a minimum, the test samples should be used that areas homogeneous a
11、s possible, that are drawn from the materialfrom which the disparate test results were obtained, and thatare randomly assigned in equal numbers to each laboratory fortesting. Other materials with established test values may beused for this purpose. The test results from the two laboratoriesshould be
12、 compared using a statistical test for unpaired data, ata probability level chosen prior to the testing series. If a bias isfound, either its cause must be found and corrected, or futuretest results must be adjusted in consideration of the knownbias.5.3 The test method(s) in the standard along with
13、those inTest Methods D2052, D2053, D2054, D2057, D2058, D2059,D2060, D2061, and D2062 are a collection of proven testmethods. Test methods for measuring those properties have notbeen published either because no practical methods have yetbeen developed or b
18、ecause a valid evaluation of the informa-tion resulting from existing unpublished methods requires anintimate and thorough knowledge of zippers.6. Sampling6.1 Lot SampleAs a lot sample for acceptance testing, takeat random the number of individual containers from eachshipping carton, as directed in
19、an applicable material specifi-cation or other agreement between the purchaser and thesupplier. Consider individual containers from each shippingcarton to be the primary sampling units.NOTE 1An adequate specification or other agreement between thepurchaser and supplier requires taking into account t
20、he variability betweenshipping cartons and between zippers in a container to provide a samplingplan with a meaningful producers risk, consumers risk, acceptablequality level, and limiting quality level.6.2 Laboratory Sample and Test SpecimensAs a labora-tory sample for acceptance testing, take at ra
21、ndom two zippersfrom each shipping container in the lot sample. Consider thezippers as both the laboratory samples and the test specimens.7. Test Specimen7.1 The test specimen shall consist either of a completelyassembled zipper or a length of chain. In either case, the lengthshall not be greater th
22、an 254 mm (10 in.). In the case of acompletely assembled zipper that is longer than 254 mm, thespecimen may be made up by cutting out and removing thecentral portion of the chain, and then securely attaching the cutends together, using suitable noncorrosive materials such assewing thread or stainles
23、s steel staples. If it is desired to test theentire length of a long zipper, it should be cut into parts 254mm or less in length and these parts tested separately.8. Conditioning8.1 No special environmental conditions are required.9. Procedure9.1 Test each specimen as directed in AATCC Method 61,Par
24、agraph 7 Procedure, using Test Condition 3A.10. Interpretation of Results10.1 Interpret the test results by visually examining thechain and components for exposed base metal and comparingthe observations to samples illustrating an acceptable degree ofcoating loss as agreed upon between the purchaser
25、 and thesupplier.11. Report11.1 State that the specimens were tested as directed in TestMethod D2051 according to AATCC Method 61, Paragraph 7Procedure, using Test Condition 3A. Describe the material orproduct sampled, and the method of sampling used.11.2 Report the following information:11.2.1 Numb
26、er of specimens tested (if more than one testcycle is required by agreement, report the number of testcycles), and11.2.2 Number of specimens equal to or not equal to theagreed upon standard.12.
