Composition
5、 and Properties3.1 Dry PigmentThe pigment shall be free of adulterantsand shall contain not more than traces of impurities incident towell-controlled manufacture of high-grade basic carbonatewhite lead. The pigment shall conform to the followingrequirements:Lead carbonate, % 62 to 75Moisture and oth
6、er volatile matter, max, % 0.7Total other impurities, max, % 1.0Coarse particles (total residue retained on a No.325 (45-m) sieve), max, %1.03.2 Paste in OilThe paste shall be made by thoroughlygrinding the specified pigment with linseed oil. The paste shallnot be caked in the container and shall br
7、eak up readily in oilto form a smooth paint of brushing consistency. 8、drypigment1.53.3 Semipaste Containing Volatile ThinnerThe semipasteshall be made by thoroughly grinding the specified pigmentwith a mixture of linseed oil and a small amount of volatilethinner. The semipaste shall not be caked in the container andshall be readily stirred to a uniform mixture which s
9、hall mixreadily with oil, turpentine, or volatile petroleum spirits to forma smooth paint of brushing consistency. The odor of thesemipaste, as taken from the container, while drying or afterdrying, shall be not abnormally pungent or disagreeable. Thesemipaste shall conform to the following requirem

Sampling4.1 Two samples shall be taken at random from differentpackages from each lot, batch, days pack, or other unit ofproduction

When no markings distinguishingbetween units of production appear, samples shall be takenfrom different packages in the ratio of two samples for each 5tons (inch-pound or SI), except that for shipments of less than10 000 lb two samples shall be taken. At the option of thepurchaser, t
13、he samples may be tested separately or afterblending in equal quantities the samples from the sameproduction unit to form a composite sample.5.
