Scope1.1 These tolerances cover first-quality, manufactured,organic-base filament single yarns (namely, bright, semi-dull,dull, solution-dyed, b

3、leached, unbleached, etc.) regardless ofthe package type. These tolerances cover permissible varia-tions in linear density, tenacity, elongation, twist, and commer-cial weight.1.1.1 These tolerances do not apply to rubber yarns, span-dex yarns, metal-covered yarns, nor to bulk yarns since testmethod

4、s for these types of yarn are not available. Thesetolerances do not apply to industrial filament yarns.NOTE 1Tolerances for inorganic glass yarns are given in Specifica-tions and Methods D 578.1.2 This standard covers only tolerances. It does not coverspecifications or quality levels, for yarns to b

Specifications for specific properties are subject toagreement by the purchaser and the supplier.NOTE 2While the tolerances specified may be applied to yarn takenfrom fabric, the properties of such yarns will likely differ from the originallevel.1.3 This standard does not purp

Significance and Use4.1 These tolerances may be used as a guide in purchaser/supplier disputes, or to assist in assigning nominal values forlinear density and twist. The tol

10、erances listed for each propertyrepresent the maximum variations deemed acceptable in thetrade.5. Test Methods5.1 Take a sample of yarn as directed in Practice D 2258.Make the indicated tests as directed in Test Method D 1907 forYarn Number, Test Method D 1423 for Direct Twist, TestMethod D 2256 for

11、 Single Strand Breaking Strength, and TestMethod D 2494 for Commercial Mass.6. Tolerances6.1 Linear DensityThe average linear density shall con-form to the average linear density agreed upon between thepurchaser and the supplier with the tolerances specified inTable 1.6.2 StrengthThe average breakin

12、g force of the yarn de-termined in single strand tests or the average force at a specificlevel of elongation, in each packing case of ten or more yarnpackages or on a beam, shall be equal to or exceed thepreviously agreed upon level.6.3 ElongationThe average elongation of the yarn at thebreaking for

13、ce or at a specified force, in each packing case often or more yarn packages or on a beam, shall conform to thelimits: specified elongation 6 20 % of the specified averageelongation.1These tolerances are under jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D13 on Textilesand are the direct responsibility of Subcomm

Conformance7.1 The purchaser and the supplier may agree on a proce-dure to establish conformance, including control charts fur-nished by the s

18、upplier, a sequential-sampling plan, or thedouble-sampling plan outlined in 7.2.7.2 In the absence of a control-chart or sequential-samplingplan, proceed as directed in 7.2.1-7.2.3.7.2.1 If the test results for the lot conform to the tolerancesfor all characteristics specified in Section 6, consider

19、 the lot avalid delivery.7.2.2 If the test results for one or more characteristics do notconform to the tolerances, take a new laboratory sample fromeither the original lot sample or a new lot sample. Retest the lotfor the characteristic(s) that did not conform to the tolerancesin the first test, an

20、d average the results of the first and secondsamples as if all results were from one test of double theoriginal number of specimens. If the new average(s) con-form(s) to the specified tolerances, consider the lot a validdelivery.7.2.3 If the test results obtained as directed in 7.2.2 do notconform t
