Where the hydrostatic design stresscode contains less tha
39、n two figures, a zero is used before thenumber. Thus, a complete material designation code shallconsist of two or three letters and four figures for plastic pipematerials. For example, PE2708 is a grade PE27 polyethylenewith an 800psi design stress for water at 73.4F (23C). Thehydrostatic design str
40、esses for gas are not used in this desig-nation code.3.7 thermoplastic pipe dimension ratio (DR)the ratio ofpipe diameter to wall thickness. It is calculated by dividing thespecified outside diameter of the pipe, in inches, by theminimum specified wall thickness, in inches. The standarddimension rat
41、io (SDR) is a common numbering system whichis derived from the ANSI preferred number series R 10.3.8 toe-ina small reduction of the outside diameter at thecut end of a length of thermoplastic pipe.4. Materials4.1 GeneralThe plastic used to make pipe and fittingsshall be virgin plastic or reworked pl
42、astic (see 4.2) as specifiedin the Annexes and shall have a Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI)long-term hydrostatic design stress and hydrostatic designbasis rating.4.2 Rework MaterialClean rework material of the samecommercial designation, generated from the manufacturersown pipe and fitting production
43、shall not be used unless thepipe and fitting produced meet all the requirements of thisspecification.NOTE 1References and material descriptions for ABS, CAB, PB,PE2306, PE2406, PE3306, PE3406 and PE3480 have been removed fromD 2513. Elimination of these materials does not affect the pipelines thatar
44、e in service. They can still be used for gas distribution. The main reasonfor removing these materials from this standard is to reflect the currentstate of the art in gas distribution plastic piping.4.3 Documentation A documentation system to allow fortraceability of raw materials including percenta
45、ge and materialclassification (or designation, if applicable) of rework materialsused in the manufacture of the pipe product meeting therequirements of this specification shall exist and be supplied tothe purchaser, if requested.5. Requirements5.1 GeneralSee the annexes for specific product require-
46、ments in addition to the following. Pipe shall be supplied ineither coils or straight lengths. Any pipe supplied in coils mustmeet the same requirements before and after coiling.5.2 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be homoge-neous throughout and free of visible cracks, holes, foreigninclusion,
47、 blisters, and dents, or other injurious defects. Thepipe and fittings shall be as uniform as commercially practi-cable in color, opacity, density, and other physical properties.5.3 Pipe and Tubing Dimensions and Tolerances:5.3.1 DimensionThe dimensions shall be specified bywall thickness and outsid
48、e diameter.5.3.1.1 DiametersThe outside diameter shall meet therequirements given in Table 1 or Table 2 when measured inaccordance with 6.5.5.3.1.2 Toe-InWhen measured in accordance with 6.5.1.1,the outside diameter at the cut end of the pipe shall not be morethan 1.5 % smaller than the undistorted
49、outside diameter.Measurement of the undistorted outside diameter shall be madeno closer than 1.5 pipe diameters or 11.8 in. (300 mm),whichever distance is less, from the cut end of the pipe.Undistorted outside diameter shall meet the requirements ofTable 1 or Table 2.5.3.1.3 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness shall be asspecified in Table 2 or Table 3 when measured in accordancewith 6.5.1.2.
