Materials5.1 Types of PlasticsThe fittings shall be made from one of the following plastics:5.1.1 Nylon plastics (NP) meeting the requirements of eithe
17、r Type I or Type II (except Grade 2A) in Test Methods D789.5.1.2 Propylene plastic (PP) with a minimum tensile strength at yield of 24.0 MPa (3410 psi) when tested in accordance withTest Method D638 at a speed of 51 mm/min (2.0 in./min), an Izod impact resistance at 23C of at least 30 J/m (0.6 ftlbf
18、/in.) whentested in accordance with MethodAof Test Methods D256, and a minimum deflection temperature of 64C at 455 KPa stress whentested in accordance with Test Method D648.5.1.3 Poly(vinyl chloride) plastics (PVC) meeting the requirements of 12454 or 14333, in Specification D1784.5.2 Rework Materi
19、alThe manufacturers shall use only their own clean rework fitting material and the fittings produced shallmeet all the requirements of this specification. The types of materials specified in 5.1 shall not be mixed with one another.6. Requirements6.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tolera
20、nces shall be as shown in Tables 1-3 when measured in accordancewith 8.4. The negative tolerance on all minimum dimensions is zero.6.1.1 AlignmentThe alignment of all openings of fittings shall be within 14 in./ft.6.1.2 Fittings Not IllustratedAll fittings, whether illustrated in Tables 1-3 or not,
21、shall have insert ends in accordance withTable 1 or threaded ends in accordance with Table 3. For insert ends, which have more than four barbs, the first four barbs, startingfrom the open end of the fitting connection, shall meet all requirements of Table 1. The remaining barbs shall also meet Table
22、 1,with the exception that mold marks left as a result of the manufacturing process, such as ejector pin marks, are exempt from the“V” dimension requirement, and the minimum requirement for “Z.” D, Zmax, and F apply in all cases. For designs where the entirefitting end is barbed, such as “F” cannot
23、be readily measured, “F” shall be calculated as (Z 2V) D / 2.6.1.3 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads, threads shall conform to Specification F1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.6.6.1.4 Fittings that transition from PE plastic pipe to IPS size PVC plastic pipeAll PE and IPS PVC tra

The sockets and spigots shall comply with the dimensions of SpecificationD2466.6.2 Burst PressureThe minimum burst pressure for the fittings shall be as shown in Table 4, when determined in accordancewith 8.5.7. 30、1 ConditioningCondition the specimens at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 %10 % relative humidity for not less than40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A of Practice D618, for those tests where conditioning is required. In all cases ofdisagreement, the tolerances shall be 61.8F (61C) and
31、62 % relative humidity.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct the tests in the standard laboratory atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 506 5 %6 10 % relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test methods or in this specification. In cases of disagreement,the tolerances shall be 61.8F (1C) and 62

Measurements shall be made withmicrometers, calipers, gages, or other devic
36、es accurate to within 60.001 in. (60.025 mm). Determine the diameters by makingmeasurements at four points spaced at approximately 45 apart around the circumference.8.5 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressure with at least three specimens in accordance with Test MethodD1599. Join the fitt
37、ings as insert fittings to the pipe sufficiently strong and in such a manner that no failure shall occur in the fittingat least than the pressures given in Table 4. The time of testing each assembly shall be between 60 and 70 s.8.6 ThreadsAll taper pipe threads shall be gaged in accordance with Spec
38、ification F1498.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirements of this specification, the tests(s) shall be conducted again only byagreement between the purchaser and seller. Under such agreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered, changed, ormodified,
39、nor shall specification limits be changed. If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product represented by the test(s)does not meet the requirements of this specification.10. Marking10.1 Fittings shall be marked with the following:10.1.1 Manufacturers name or trademark,10.1.2 Material designa
40、tion: NP, PP, or PVC,10.1.3 Fittings intended for the transport of potable water shall include the seal or mark of the laboratory making the evaluationfor this purpose, and10.1.4 Size.10.2 Markings or symbols shall be molded, hot-stamped, or applied by printing methods.10.3 Where recessed marking is
41、 used, care shall be taken to see that in no case shall the marking cause cracks or reduce thewall thicknesses below the minimum specified.11. Quality Assurance11.1 When the product is marked with this designation, D2609, the manufacturer affirms that the product was manufactured,inspected, sampled,
