Test Methods5.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with the following ASTM testmethods:5.1.1 Apparent Specific GravityDetermine the apparentspecific gravity by any convenient method that is accurate tothe third decimal

18、 place, the temperature of both specimen andwater being 20 or 25C. (See Guide D268 and Test MethodD4052.)5.1.2 ColorTest Method D1209.NOTE 4Diacetone alcohol has a tendency to develop yellow color thatis hastened by contact with iron or rust during storage. Protection fromiron is obtained with a zin

19、c silicate liner.5.1.3 Distillation RangeTest Method D1078, using a tem-perature measuring device having a range of 123 to 177C anda resolution of 0.1C.NOTE 5In order to avoid an erratic value for the initial boiling pointthe distillation flask should be clean and free of any residual carbondeposit.

20、 This exception to the suggestion in Note 3 of Test Method D1078is specifically applicable to diacetone alcohol.
