22、 from nonstandard or nonuniform virgin material.3.2.4 virgin ABS plasticplastic in the form of pellets,granules, powder, floc, or liquid that has not been subjected touse or processing other than that required for its initialmanufacture.4. Classification4.1 The requirements of this specification are
23、 intended toprovide pipe suitable for the drainage and venting of sewageand certain other liquid wastes.NOTE 1Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only withthe specific approval of the cognizant building code authority sincechemicals not commonly found in drains and sewers and tempera
24、tures inexcess of 180F (82C) may be encountered.NOTE 2This specification does not include requirements for pipe andfittings intended to be used to vent combustion gases.5. Materials5.1 Material SpecificationVirgin black ABS plastic shallconform to the requirements prescribed in Specification D3965wi
25、th a cell classification of 4-2-2-2-2. The form of the materialshall be as agreed upon between the seller and the purchaser inaccordance with Specification D3965.5.2 The ABS plastic shall conform to the following require-ments:5.2.1 Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) PlasticPlastic containing pol
26、ymers or blends of polymers shall containa minimum of 15 % acrylonitrile, 6 % butadiene, and 15 %styrene or substituted styrene, or both. ABS plastic shallcontain no more than 10 % of other monomeric or polymericcomponents plus other necessary compounding ingredients.5.3 Rework MaterialThe manufactu
27、rer shall use only hisown clean pipe or fitting rework material conforming withthese cell class requirements. The pipe or fittings producedshall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements6.1 GeneralThe pipe and fittings shall be homogeneousthroughout and free of visible cracks,
28、holes, foreign inclusions,or other injurious defects. The pipe shall be as uniform ascommercially practicable in color, opacity, density, and otherphysical properties.6.1.1 The requirements in this section are intended only foruse as quality control tests, not as simulated service tests.6.2 Dimensio
29、ns and Tolerances:6.2.1 Outside DiameterThe outside diameter and toler-ances shall meet the requirements of Table 1 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D2122. 33、in either 10 or 20-ft (3.05 or6.1-m) lengths, unless otherwise specified. The allowabletolerance on length shall be +12, 0 in. (+12, 0 mm).6.3 Performance Requirements:6.3.1 Pipe Stiffness The minimum pipe stiffness values at5 % deflection when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2412, shall equ
34、al or exceed the values in Table 3. The rate ofcrosshead motion shall be 0.20 to 0.25 in./min (5.1 to 6.3mm/min). Three specimens shall be tested. If all three meet thisrequirement, the sample meets this requirement. If one or twofail, additional testing shall be conducted in accordance with6.3.1.1.
35、 If all three fail, the sample does not meet therequirement.6.3.1.1 Pipe Stiffness and Lower Confidence LimitIn theevent that one or two of the specimens tested in 6.3.1 fail tomeet the minimum requirement, the average pipe stiffness ofeleven specimens shall meet or exceed the minimum require-ment g
36、iven in Table 3. The 99 % lower confidence limit (LCL)shall be within 15 % of the average value. The LCL shall becalculated using the Students “ t” distribution, with N-1degrees of freedom, where N is the number of specimens. Thecritical t value shall be used to at least three significant digits.Alt
37、ernatively, if the LCLexceeds the minimum PS requirementin Table 3, but is not within 15 % of the average, the samplemeets the requirements of the Pipe Stiffness testing. The elevenspecimens include the three tested under 6.3.1, and an addi-tional eight with rotation by 35, as specified in Test Meth

40、ble for establishing the accept-able deflection limit.NOTE 5The strength and load-carrying capabilities of plastic pipe aremeasured and reported as pipe stiffness, which is determined in accor-dance with Test Method D2412. The term “crush strength” is notapplicable to plastic piping because the valu
41、es obtained can be signifi-cantly different, depending on the bedding, loading, or testing techniqueused, and because the term derives from rigid pipe and refers to itsultimate strength at rupture.6.3.2 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of rup-ture when pipe is deflected 40% of the initial i
42、nside diameterwhen tested in accordance with Test Method D2412. The rateof head approach shall be 0.20 to 0.25 in./min (5.1 to 6.3mm/min). Three specimens shall be tested. All shall meet therequirements. Failure shall be a crack or break extendingentirely through the pipe wall visible to the unaided
43、 eye.6.3.3 Impact ResistanceThe minimum impact resistance,when tested at the time of manufacture, shall comply withTable 4. Test in accordance with Test Method D2444 using TupB and Holder B. Use a 30-lb (13.6 kg) tup for testing all pipesizes.6.3.3.1 Test 10 specimens. When 9 or 10 specimens pass,ac
44、cept the lot. When 2 or more specimens fail, test 10additional specimens. When 17 of 20 specimens tested pass,accept the lot. When 4 or more of 20 specimens fail, test 20additional specimens. 49、hat is, pipe containing two or moreconcentric layers, the outer layer shall be at least 0.020 in.(0.50 mm) thick and shall contain pigments or screening agentsto provide protection against UV radiation.6.4.2 BondFor pipe produced by the coextrusion process,that is, pipe containing two or more concentric layers, the bondbetween the layers shall be strong and uniform.
