Procedure4.1 Aerosol CoatingsTest Method D 3062 covers thedetermination of solids content (weight %) in aerosol coatings.4.2 Volatile Content of Coatings (Test Method D 2369)This test method covers the determination of

It is considered to be applicable to mostsolvent-reducible and water-reducible paints.4.3 High Performance Interior Architectural Wall Coatings(HIPAC)Determine the nonvolatile content of HIPAC coat-ings in accordance with Test Methods D 1644. Calculate thevolatile c

17、ontent (weight %) by difference.4.3.1 Method A3 h at 105C for paints with nonsolventcomponents that decompose at higher temperature.4.3.2 Method B10 min at 149C for most paints withnonsolvent components that are reasonably stable at 149C.4.4 Asphalt Roof CoatingsDetermine the nonvolatile con-tent (w

Determine volume solids in accor-dance with Test Method D 2697.4.9 Electrical Insulation Varnishes:4.9.1 Sections on Procedure, Report, Sig

24、35 6 3C (275 6 5.5F) or ata temperature agreed upon between the producer and the user.4.10 Volume Nonvolatile Matter in Clear or PigmentedCoatings (Test Method D 2697) This test method is appli-cable to the determination of the volume nonvolatile matter ofcoatings. A gloss enamel, a flat wall paint,

25、 a gloss house paint,an industrial baking enamel, an interior latex paint, and anexterior latex paint included in formal collaborative studies ofthis test method.4.11 Lacquer CoatingsDetermine the nonvolatile contentof clear and pigmented lacquers as described in Test MethodsD 1644. As an additional

26、 requirement, the specimen shall bereheated and reweighed until the weight is constant to within 1mg. Method A of Test Methods D 1644 is preferred sinceMethod B is potentially dangerous when used with lacquers.4.12 Magnet Wire EnamelsThe Determined Solids andStack Loss sections of Test Method D 3288

27、 cover the determi-nation of nonvolatile content (weight %) in magnet wireenamels.4.13 Coatings for PlasticsDetermine nonvolatile matterin clear and pigmented coatings designed for use on rigid orsemirigid plastic substrates in accordance with Test MethodsD 1644.4.14 Polymeric Powders and Powder Coa

28、tingsDeterminenonvolatile content (weight %) in accordance with the Accel-erated Storage Stability section of Coating Powder Propertiesof Practices D 3451. Determine volatile content at baking orfusion temperature in accordance with the Cured Weight Lossfor Thermosetting Coating Powders section of P

29、racticesD 3451.4.15 Traffc PaintsDetermine the nonvolatile content oftraffic paints, ready-mixed, of spraying consistency of thepremix, drop-in, or combination type in accordance with TestMethods D 1644, and state any necessary larger specimen sizefor beaded paint. Either of the two methods can be u

These testmethods may give high results due either to incompleteelimination of volatile matter or to absorption of oxygen byoxidizing-type varnishes.4.17 Solvent-Based Interior Semigloss Wall and TrimEnamelsUse Test Method D 2369 to determine volatilecontent. Volume nonvolatile

32、 matter is determined in accor-dance with Test Method D 2697.4.18 Silanes, Siloxanes and Silane-Siloxane Blends Used inMasonry Water Repellant TreatmentsTest Method D 5095describes a procedure for the determination of the nonvolatilecontent of silanes, siloxanes and the blended silane-siloxanemateri
