3、This specification covers requirements and test methodsfor materials, dimensions, workmanship, impact resistance,load-deflection properties, dimensional stability, and jointtightness of plain-end or bell-end styrene-rubber (SR) plasticdrain pipe and fittings in sizes 2 through 6 in.1.2 The values st

4、ated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions are in accordance with Termi-nology F 412, and abbreviations are in accordance with Ter-minology D 1600, unless otherwise specified. The abbreviationf

Significance and Use4.1 The requirements for this specification are intended toprovide pipe and fittings suitable for nonpressure undergrounddrainage of sewage and certain other liquid wastes, in appli-cations outside the building limits, where dimensional stabili

11、ty,resistance to aging, and strong eight joints are required. Theplastic drain pipe and fittings described in this specification areintended for use in the following applications:4.1.1 House connections to septic tanks.4.1.2 Footing drains (foundation drains).4.1.3 Storm drainage.4.2 The pipe should

12、 be installed in accordance with PracticeD 2321.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 MaterialsThe pipe and fittings shall be made ofstyrene-rubber (SR) plastics meeting the following require-ments:5.1.1 The SR plastics compound shall contain at least 50 %styrene plastics, combined with rubbers to a minim

13、um rubbercontent of 5 %, and compounding materials such as antioxi-dants and lubricants, and may contain up to 15 % acrylonitrilecombined in the styrene plastics or rubbers, or both. Therubbers shall be of the polybutadiene or butadiene-styrene1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Co

No fillers may be used.5.1.2 The SR plastic compound shall meet the followingminimum requirements when tested in accordance with Section8:Tensile strength at rupture, 3800 psi (26.

18、roduction, maybe used by the same manufacturer, provided that the pipe andfittings produced meet all of the requirements of this specifi-cation.6. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance6.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe shall be homogeneousthroughout and essentially uniform in color, opacity, density,and other pr

19、operties. The inside and outside surfaces shall besemimatte or glossy in appearance and free of chalking, sticky,or tacky material. The pipe walls shall be free of cracks, holes,blisters, voids, foreign inclusion, or other defects that arevisible to the naked eye and that may affect the wall integri

20、ty.Holes deliberately placed in perforated pipe are acceptable.The surfaces shall be free of excessive bloom. Bloom orchalking may develop in pipe exposed to direct rays of the sun(ultraviolet radiant energy) for extended periods and conse-quently these requirements do not apply to pipe after extend

21、edexposure to direct rays of the sun.6.2 Pipe Dimensions:6.2.1 Pipe DiametersThe outside and inside diameters ofthe pipe shall be within the tolerances given in Table 1 whentested in accordance with 8.6.1.6.2.2 Wall ThicknessPipe wall thickness shall meet therequirements of Table 1 when measured in

22、accordance with8.6.2.6.2.3 Laying LengthThe laying length shall be 10 ft witha tolerance of 0 +12 in., unless otherwise specified. The layinglength shall be determined in accordance with 8.6.3.6.3 Fitting and Bell-End Dimensions:6.3.1 Socket DiametersThe inside diameters of the sock-ets shall comply

23、 with the dimensions in Table 2 when deter-mined in accordance with 8.7.1.6.3.2 Wall Thickness:6.3.2.1 For belled pipe and fittings fabricated from pipesections, the thickness of the belled section shall be consideredsatisfactory if the bell was formed from pipe meeting therequirements of Table 1.6.

24、3.2.2 For molded fittings, the wall thickness of the water-way and socket or bell shall be no less than the respectiveminimum thickness listed for the equivalent pipe wall in Table2. For reducing fittings or those with smaller inlets, theminimum wall thickness of each inlet shall be no less than the

25、minimum wall thickness for that size pipe.6.3.3 Socket DepthThe socket depth shall be not less thanthat shown in Table 2 when measured in accordance with 8.7.3.6.3.4 Laying LengthThe laying length shall meet therequirements shown in Table 3. All dimensions are minimumwith a negative tolerance of zer

26、o.6.4 Impact StrengthThe impact strength of the pipe andfittings shall not be less than the values given in Table 4 whentested in accordance with 8.9.NOTE 1This test is intended only as a quality control test, not as asimulated service test.6.5 Pipe StiffnessThe pipe stiffness at 5 % deflection shal

27、lbe not less than the values given in Table 5 when tested inaccordance with 8.10. This requirement does not apply tofittings.NOTE 2The 5 % deflection criterion, which was arbitrarily selectedfor testing convenience, should not be considered as a limitation withrespect to in-use deflection. The engin

28、eer is responsible for establishingthe acceptable deflection limit.NOTE 3The strength and load-carrying capabilities of plastic drainand sewer pipe are measured and reported as Pipe Stiffness, which isdetermined in accordance with Test Method D 2412. The term “crushstrength” is not applicable to pla

29、stic piping because (a) the values obtainedcan be significantly different, depending on the bedding, loading, ortesting technique used; and (b) the term derives from rigid pipe and refersto its ultimate strength at rupture.6.6 FlatteningThe pipe shall show no evidence of split-ting, cracking, or bre

30、aking at 20 % deflection when tested inaccordance with 8.8.6.7 Dimensional StabilityThe average decrease in insidediameter of pipe and fittings shall not exceed 10 % when testedin accordance with 8.11.6.8 Solvent CementSolvent cements shall meet the re-quirements of Specification D 3122.6.9 Joint Ti

31、ghtnessJoints made with pipe and fittings shallnot leak when tested in accordance with 8.12.7. Test Methods8.1 ConditioningCondition the spec

40、imens prior to test at73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity fornot less than 40 h in accordance with Procedure A of PracticeD 618, for those tests where conditioning is required and in allcases of disagreement.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the standard labora-tory atmosphere of

41、73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5%relative humidity, unless otherwise specified.8.3 Deflection TemperatureDetermine the deflection tem-perature in accordance with Test Method D 648. Injection moldtwo14 by12 by 5-in. (6.4 by 12.7 by 127-mm) test specimensunder conditions specified by the manufacturer.

42、 The test shallbe made only at a stress of 264 psi (1.82 MPa). An inertimmersion medium shall be used. The heating rate shall be 2 60.2C/min.8.4 Material Impact ResistanceDetermine the Izod im-pact resistance in accordance with Method A of Test MethodsD 256. Injection mold ten18 by12 by 212-in. test

43、 specimensunder conditions specified by the manufacturer. The notch shallbe produced by a machining operation using a single-toothmilling cutter.8.5 Tensile PropertiesDetermine the tensile strength,elongation at rupture, and modulus of elasticity in accordancewith Test Method D 638. Injection mold f

44、ive Type I testspecimens approximately18 in. (3.2 mm) thick under condi-tions specified by the manufacturer. The speed of testing shallbe 0.20 to 0.25 in. (5 to 6 mm)/min.8.6 Pipe Dimensions:8.6.1 Pipe Diameters:8.6.1.1 Measure the average outside diameter of the pipe inaccordance with Test Method D

45、 2122. Use either a tapered-sleeve gage or a vernier circumferential wrap tape accurate to60.001 in. (60.02 mm).8.6.1.2 Measure the average inside diameter of the pipe inaccordance with Test Method D 2122.8.6.2 Wall ThicknessMeasure the wall thickness in accor-dance with Test Method D 2122. Make suf

46、ficient readings, aminimum of six, to ensure that the minimum thickness hasbeen determined. Use a cylindrical anvil tubing micrometeraccurate to 60.001 in. (60.02 mm).8.6.3 LengthDetermine the over-all length of the pipe inaccordance with Test Method D 2122 using a steel tape with atleast116-in. (1-

47、mm) graduations. For belled or coupled pipe,determine the laying length by measuring the bell or couplingsocket depth with a steel rule with at least116-in. graduationsand subtracting this dimension from the overall length.8.7 Fitting and Bell-End Socket Dimensions:8.7.1 Socket DiametersMeasure the

48、inside diameters ofthe sockets at the socket entrance and bottom, using an insidemicrometer accurate to 60.001 in. (60.02 mm) or a telescop-ing pin gage in conjunction with an outside micrometeraccurate to 60.001 in. Determine the average inside diametersat the entrance and the bottom of the socket

49、by taking sufficientreadings at each position. Calculate the average inside diameterat each position by taking the mean of the minimum andmaximum values.8.7.2 Wall ThicknessMeasure the wall thickness in accor-dance with Test Method D 2122. Make sufficent readings, aminimum of six, to ensure that the minimum thickness hasbeen determined. Use a cylindrical anvil tubing micrometeraccurate to 60.001 in. (60.02 mm).8.7.3 Socket DepthMeasure the socket depth using a steelrule with at le
