Physical Requirements5.1 The tape shall be made from unpigmented PTFE resin.5.2 The length and width of the rol

20、l shall be as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the seller. Width tolerances shall bein accordance with Table 1.5.3 The melting point for all types of tape shall be 327 610C 621 6 18F.5.4 The thickness tolerances for skived tape shall be asshown in Table 2.5.5 Tensile strength and elongation shal

21、l meet the require-ments shown in Table 3.5.6 The requirements for specific gravity shall be as shownin Table 3.5.7 The minimum required values for dielectric strength S(V/mil), shall be computed for applicable thicknesses ofmaterials in accordance with the following formulas, where t isthe thicknes

25、or films less than 1.0 mm 0.04 in. thick, determine the tensilestrength and percentage elongation at break in accordance withTest Method D 882.8.1.6 Dielectric StrengthDetermine the dielectric strengthin accordance with Test Methods D 149 using the short timetest. Use air as the test medium for tape

26、s up to and including0.254 mm 0.010 in. in thickness. For tapes greater than 0.254mm 0.010 in. thick, or where specimen configuration couldresult in flashover or partial discharge (corona) during the test,the test medium shall be oil. Use three specimens in determin-ing the dielectric strength of ea

27、ch lot of tape.”NOTE 4Dielectric values obtained in oil is a requirement for thelaminate industry. Therefore, it is necessary to test dielectric strength in oilwhen requested by these customers. Values obtained when testing thinskived tape in oil are significantly different than those obtained using

28、 theair method.8.1.7 Specific GravityDetermine the specific gravity ontwo specimens in accordance with Method A of Test MethodsD 792. Add 2 drops of a wetting agent (liquid detergent orother surfactant) to the water in order to reduce the surfacetension and ensure complete wetting of the sample.8.1.

29、8 Electrical FlawsMethods D 1389.9. Inspection9.1 Inspection and certification of the material supplied withreference to a specification based on this classification systemshall be for conformance to the requirements specified herein.9.2 Lot-acceptance shall be the basis on which acceptanceor reject

30、ion of the lot is made. Lot-acceptance testing shallconsist of the tests seen in Section 89.3 Periodic check inspection with reference to a specifica-tion based on this classification system shall consist of the testsfor all requirements of the material under the specification.9.4 Certification shal

31、l be that the material was manufacturedby a process in statistical control, sampled, tested, and in-spected in accordance with this classification system, and thatthe average values for the lot meet the requirements of thespecification (line callout).9.5 A report of test results shall be furnished w

32、hen re-quested. The report shall consist of results of the lot-acceptanceinspection for the shipment and the results of the most recentperiodic-check inspection.10. Packaging and Marking10.1 PackagingThe material shall be packaged in stan-dard commercial containers so constructed as to ensure accep-

33、tance by common or other carriers for safe transportation at thelowest rate to the point of delivery, unless otherwise specifiedin the contract or order.10.2 MarkingShipping containers shall be marked withthe name of the material, type, size, and quantity containedtherein. Each roll of tape shall be

34、 marked to designate type,grade, and lot number. The marking will be, preferably, on thecore.10.3 All packing, packaging, and marking provisions ofPractice D 3892 shall apply to this specification.10.4 Packaging and marking requirements defined by thepurchaser shall take precedence over the above.11
