、Designation: D 3367 98 (Reapproved 2004)Standard Test Method forPlasticizer Sorption of Poly(Vinyl Chloride) Resins UnderApplied Centrifugal Force1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 3367; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, i
、n the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope*1.1
、 This test method covers the determination of the plas-ticizer sorption of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) homopolymersusing a controlled centrifugal force.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any,
、associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This test method references notes and footnotes thatprovide explanatory material. These note
、s and footnotes (ex-cluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered asrequirements of this test method.NOTE 1This standard and ISO 4608-1984 are identical in all technicaldetails.2. The PVC and plasticizerare subjected to centrifugation for a specified time. A smallamount of cotton is we
、ighed into the screening tube beforeweighing of the PVC to prevent PVC particles from escapingthrough the orifice of the tube during weighing and centrifu-gation. Plasticizer that is not absorbed by the PVC particles isremoved by the centrifugation through the orifice of thescreening tube.5. Signifi
、cance and Use5.1 This test method provides a quantitative measure of therelative plasticizer absorption of general-purpose poly(vinylchloride) resins under standard temperature conditions. Plasti-cizer sorption thus defined is one of the criteria useful for thedescription of the powder blend charact
、eristics of poly(vinylchloride) resins.6. Apparatus and Materials6.1 Centrifuge, whose rotor turns in a horizontal plane andhas an acceleration under the test conditions of 24 500 to29 500 m s2measured at the level of the bottom of the tube, with, if necessary, a cooling system to prevent the tempera
、tureof the mixture from exceeding 30C at the end of thecentrifuging for 60 min.NOTE 2It is permissible to use higher acceleration to reduce thecentrifuging time, for example, 34 000 m s2and 30 min, provided thatit has been verified that the results obtained are equivalent.6.2 Centrifuge Tubes, to fi
