Materials and Manufacture4.1 The siding shall be made of one or more layers ofpoly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) compound.Any layers of materialsother than po
21、ly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) compound shall be keptto less than 20% by volume.4.2 Where rigid PVC recycled plastic as defined in GuideD5033 is used, the siding containing the PVC recycled plasticshall meet all of the requirements of Section 3, Terminology;Section 4, Materials and Manufacture; and Secti
22、on 5, PhysicalRequirements.4.3 The poly(vinyl chloride) siding material, when tested inaccordance with Test Method D635, shall not exceed anaverage extent of burn of 4 in. (100 mm), with an average timeof burn not to exceed 10 s. A minimum sample thickness of0.035 in. (0.9 mm) is required. Warning T
23、he flammabilitytesting data, conclusions, and recommendations of TestMethod D635 related solely to the measurement and descrip-tion of properties for classification of the poly(vinyl chloride)siding material in response to flame under controlled laboratoryconditions and shall not be used for the des
24、cription or appraisalof the fire hazard of vinyl siding under actual fire conditions.4.4 The PVC compound when extruded into siding shallmaintain uniform color and be free of any visual surface orstructural changes, such as peeling, chipping, cracking, flaking,or pitting.4.5 The PVC compound shall b
25、e compounded so as toprovide the heat stability and weather exposure stabilityrequired for the siding market application.4.6 PVC siding shall not contain elemental lead (Pb) orcompounds of that material other than traces incidental to rawmaterials or the manufacturing process. This limitation applie
26、sto both PVC substrate and to any cap or film material.Compliance with this requirement shall be demonstrated byone of the methods in 6.165. Physical Requirements5.1 Length and WidthThe nominal length and width of thesiding shall be as agreed upon between the purchaser and theseller. The actual leng
27、th shall not be less than14 in. (6.4 mm)of the nominal length and the actual width shall be within 6116in. (1.6 mm) of the nominal width when measured in accor-dance with 6.3 and 6.4.5.2 ThicknessThese requirements pertain only to mea-surements of the portions of the siding that are exposed afterins
28、tallation of the panel, measured in accordance with theprocedure in 6.5. The average thickness of each specimen shallbe no less than 0.035 in. No individual measurement shall bethinner than 0.003 in. below the nominal thickness. Theprocess average thickness as defined in 3.2.3 shall be nothinner tha
29、n 0.001 in. below the nominal thickness.5.3 CamberA full length of siding (typically 10 or 12 ft(3.05 or 3.61 m) shall not have a camber greater than18 in.(3.2 mm) when measured in accordance with 6.6.5.4 Heat ShrinkageThe average heat shrinkage shall notexceed 3.0 % when determined by the method de
30、scribed in 6.7.5.5 Impact ResistanceSiding shall have a minimum im-pact strength of 60 in.lbf (6.78 J) when tested in accordancewith 6.8.5.6 Coeffcient of Linear Expansion The siding shall havea coefficient of linear expansion not greater than 4.5 by 105in./in./F (8.1 by 105mm/mm/C) when tested in a
31、ccordancewith 6.9.5.7 GlossThe gloss of smooth and embossed siding shallbe uniform across the exposed surface. The average of allreadings for a panel determined in 6.11.2.5 shall not differ fromthe manufacturers specified gloss value more than the permit-ted variation in Table 1, and each individual
32、 reading shall notvary more than 10 points from the average. 33、ng shall be free of bulges,waves, and ripples when tested to a minimum temperature of120F (49C) in accordance with the procedure in 6.12. Thisdistortion is called “oil-canning.”5.9 ColorThe color of the siding shall be within thedefined color space parameters for the specific color agreedupon betwee
34、n the purchaser and the manufacturer. The colorspecified shall be uniform on the surface of the siding panels,except in the case of multicolored woodgrain panels.5.9.1 Uniformity of ColorWhen tested in accordance with6.13, the total color change, DE, between a production speci-men and the appropriat
35、e reference specimen or agreed-uponcolor coordinates shall not vary by more than 1.5, and thechromatic coordinates thereof shall not change by more than6DaH= 1.0 and 6DbH= 1.0.5.10 Weathering:D3679 1125.10.1 The siding shall maintain a uniform color and be freeof any visual surface or structural cha
36、nges such as peeling,chipping, cracking, flaking, and pitting when tested in accor-dance with 6.10.NOTE 3Weathering-conformance-testing requirements are to reflectperformance of a “typical” extrusion siding profile representing a specificcolor of PVC compound and a specific extrusion technology. In
37、no case isthere an implied requirement for testing all the various shaped and sizedsiding profiles produced in this color. The lengthy outdoor weatherabilitytesting for new products may be performed concurrently with marketdevelopment and sales of siding to existing markets. Completion ofweatherabil
38、ity testing prior to marketing of the product is not required.5.11 Windload ResistanceThe siding panel(s) shall beable to withstand a minimum static test pressure of 15.73lbf/ft2(753 Pa) when tested in accordance with 6.14.5.11.1 The static test pressure of 15.73 lbf/ft2(753 Pa) wasestablished to wi
39、thstand structural loading conditions thatoccur in 110 mph (177 km/h) wind-zone areas for elevations of30 ft (9.1 m) and less in exposure category B, and is equivalentto 29.12 lbf/ft2(1394 Pa) negative design pressure.5.11.1.1 The design-pressure values can be negative (suc-tion loads) or positive.
40、The negative values are the largest inmagnitude and are the values used in this specification.NOTE 4In that the siding is being tested as a weather-resistant exteriorproduct applied to an existing exterior structural wall, forces (negative)working to pull the siding off the wall, fasteners, or disen
41、gage locks willbe the most important criteria for testing. Positive wind forces test theintegrity of the total wall sections, and do not provide a measure of theperformance of the siding.5.11.2 Refer to Annex A1 for an explanation as to how the29.12 lbf/ft2(1394 Pa) negative design pressure was esta
42、b-lished, and for applications where the effective negative designpressure as specified in ASCE 7-02 is greater than 29.12lbf/ft2(1394 Pa) (for example, wind-zone areas greater than110 mph (177 km/h) or elevations above 30 ft (9.1 m), orexposures other than exposure category B).5.12 Nail Slot Allowa
43、nce for Thermal ExpansionFor sid-ing panels utilizing nail slots to allow for thermal expansionand contraction, the nail slot shall be sized to allow for theexpected range of expansion and contraction over a range of100F. Compliance with this requirement shall be demon-strated either by the test met
44、hod in 6.15 or by sizing of the nailslots according to the specifications in the following sections.The instrument used shall be capable of measuring to thenearest 0.01 in. The manufacturing tolerance shall not exceed-0.030 in.5.12.1 For panels shorter than 6 ft (1829 mm) in length, theminimum nail
45、slot width shall be38 in. (11.4 mm).5.12.2 For panels 6 ft (1829 mm) in length or longer theminimum nail slot width shall be determined according to thefollowing formula. The minimum width shall be the widthresulting from application of the formula, rounded to the nextlower quarter-inch. Regardless

Test Methods6.1 GeneralThe inspection and test procedures containedin this section are
48、 used to determine the conformance ofproducts to the requirements of this specification. Each pro-ducer who represents its products as conforming to thisspecification shall be permitted to use statistically basedsampling plans that are appropriate for each manufacturingprocess, but shall keep the es
49、sential records necessary todocument, with a high degree of assurance, his claim that all ofthe requirements of this specification have been met. Addi-tional sampling and testing of the product, as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the manufacturer, are not precludedby this section.6.2 Conditioning and Test Conditions Condition the testspecimen in accordance with ProcedureAof Practice D618 andtest under those conditions, unless otherwise specified herein.6.3 LengthLay the specimen on a flat surface and measurewith a steel tape.
