Significance and Use2.1 These test methods are useful for determining theappearance of halogenated hydrocarbons and their admixtures.TEST METHOD AUSING NESSLER TUBES3. Apparatus3.1 Color Comparison Tube, 100-mL tall-form Nessler.Tubes sh

5、ould be selected so that the height of the 100-mLgraduation mark is 275 to 295 mm above the bottom of the tubewith ground glass cap.3.2 Viewing Stand, constructed to permit visual observationof light transmitted through the Nessler tube in the direction ofits longitudinal axis. The viewing stand sho

6、uld be constructedso that white light is passed through or reflected off a whiteglass plate and directed with uniform intensity through thetube, and should be shielded so that no light enters the tubefrom the side.4. Procedure4.1 Vigorously shake the sample to distribute any solidmatter that may be

7、deposited on the bottom of the container.Transfer the sample to the tube and cap the tube.4.2 Place the tube in the viewing stand. Observe the samplethrough the longitudinal direction of the tube, looking forsuspended particles, floaters, sediment, turbidity, foaming, orfree water.5. Report5.1 Repor

8、t extraneous contaminants as suspended or float-ing matter, sediments, turbidity, or free water.6. Precision and Bias6.1 This is a pass/fail test. Apparatus8.1 Clear, Colorless Sample Bottle.8.2 White Background and Black Background, in well-lighted area.9. Procedure9.1 Vigorously shake the sample to distribute any solidmatter that may be deposi

10、ted on the bottom of the container. Ifthe sample is not in a clear, colorless bottle, transfer it to onein an exhaust hood. Immediately place the sample in front of awhite background in a well-lighted area. Examine for sus-pended particles, floaters, sediment, turbidity, or free water.9.2 Vigorously

11、 shake the sample again. Immediately placethe sample in front of a black background in a well-lightedarea. Examine for suspended particles, floaters, sediment,turbidity, foaming, or free water.10.
