3、from kraft, cotton, or kraft andcotton pulps. This board is intended for dielectrical or struc-tural purposes in transformers and other electrical apparatus.1.2 Electrical insulating boards are most commonly referredto (and will be referred to herein) as pressboard. Other termsused for pressboard in

4、clude transformer board, fuller board,and presspan.1.3 This specification covers pressboard having a nominalthickness of 0.030 to 0.315 in. (0.8 to 8.0 mm). For thinnermaterial refer to Specification D 1305.1.4 The maximum thickness available will differ with thetype and the manufacturer. The maximu

5、m sheet size will differwith the thickness, type, and manufacturer.1.5 Pressboard shall normally be plied wet without pasting.Unless specified by the purchaser, this specification does notinclude pressboard comprised of two or more sheets that havebeen laminated together using an adhesive.NOTE 1The

Classification4.1 This specification covers the following three types ofpressboard:4.1.1 Type 1High-purity

Ordering Information5.1 Orders for material furnished under this specificationshall include:5.1.1 Name of material,5.1.2 Grade of pressboard (selected from Table 1),5.1.3 Quantity (weight o

12、r number of sheets),5.1.4 Dimensions (thickness, width, length), and5.1.5 Additions or exceptions to the specification andsupplementary requirements, if required, such as thermallyupgraded material.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 The pressboard will be manufactured from unbleachedkraft pulp, cotton

Property Requirements Property Requirements7.1 Pressboard shall conform to the requirements listed inTables 2-4 as applicable.NOTE 2Properties for grades listed in Table 1 but not established inTables 2-4 are being considered.8. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The pressboard will hav

18、e the thickness, density, surfacetexture, and color as agreed upon between the purchaser andthe supplier.8.2 Sheets shall be of width and length with dimensionswithin limits agreed upon between the purchaser and thesupplier.8.3 Color will be tan to blue-gray, depending upon the gradeof pressboard.8.

19、4 Types 1 and 2 will have a smooth calendered surface.Type 3 will have a fine-textured finish from the press-driedoperation.8.5 The presence of dirt and other foreign materials isundesirable. The pressboard will be free of dirt, metal particles,and other foreign material.9. Sampling9.1 Sample in acc

20、ordance with Test Methods D 3394.10. Test Methods10.1 Test in accordance with the procedures in Test MethodsD 3394.11. Rejection and Rehearing11.1 If the results of any test performed by the purchaser donot conform to the requirements of this specification, at theoption of the manufacturer, the test

21、 shall be repeated by thepurchaser. Two additional sets of specimens from the batch, lot,or shipment shall be tested. If either of these two additional setsof specimens fails the repeated test, the material may berejected by the purchaser.11.2 Since some material properties may change due tostorage

22、conditions, failure of material based on initial testsshall be reported to the manufacturer within 60 days of receiptof the material by the purchaser.12. Product Marking12.1 No marks shall appear in the individual sheets exceptas mutually agreed upon between the purchaser and thesupplier.NOTE 3It is

23、 not unusual for manufacturing to mark sheets to identifygrain direction, name of manufacturer, and, in some cases, grade.However, these marks should be agreed to by the purchaser.13. Packaging and Package Marking13.1 Pressboard shall be packed in waterproof wrapping onskids or in crates, boxes, or
