ASTM D4380-2012 Standard Test Method for Density of Bentonitic Slurries《膨润土泥浆的密度的标准试验方法》.pdf

1、Designation: D4380 12Standard Test Method forDensity of Bentonitic Slurries1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D4380; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parenthes

2、es indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the determination of the densityof slurries used in slurry construction techniques, such as thoseused for barriers to control the

3、horizontal movement of liquids. This test method is modified from API Recommended Prac-tice 13B.1.2 UnitsThe values stated in SI units are to be regardedas standard, unless other units are also specified, such asdensity in lbm/ft3or lbm/gal. No other units of measurementare included in this standard.

4、1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Referenced D

Summary of Test Method4.1 The mud balance is the instrument generally used forthis test method. The weig

7、ht of a fixed volume of the slurry ismeasured by moving a rider counterweight along a graduatedscale. The density of the slurry is then read directly off thegraduated scale after the instrument is balanced.5. Significance and Use5.1 This test method is used to determine the density ofbentonitic slur

For in-trench slurry, a certain value may bespecified for maintaining trench stability.NOTE 1The quality of the result produced by this standard depends onthe competence of the

9、personnel performing it and the suitability of theequipment and facilities being used. Agencies that meet the criteria ofPractice D3740 are generally considered capable of competent andobjective testing, sampling, inspection, etc. Users of this standard arecautioned that compliance with Practice D37

Apparatus6.1 Mud BalanceAny instrument of sufficient accuracy topermit measurement within 60.01 g/cm3may be used, however, the mud balance is th

The mud balance consists of a mud cup attached to oneend of a beam which is balanced on the other end by a fixedcounterweight and a rider free to move along a graduated scale.A level bubble is mounted on the beam. Attachments forextending the range of the bal

If it does not, adjust the balancing screw or the amountof lead shot in the well at the end of the graduated arm asrequired.8. Procedure8.1 Set up

13、 the instrument base approximately level.8.2 Fill the clean, dry cup with slurry to be tested, place thecap on the cup, and rotate the cap until firmly seated. Makesure some of the slurry is expelled through the hole in the capto free trapped air or gas.1This test method is under the jurisdiction of
