Significance and Use4.1 Proper operation and maintenance of RO and NFsystems are key factors in obtaining successful performance.This guide provides the necessary input for the evaluation ofthe perf

9、ormance of the RO and NF systems, the pretreatmentsystem, and the mechanical equipment in the plant.4.2 This guide is for general guidance only and must not beused in place of the operating manual for a particular plant.4.3 Site-dependent factors prevent specific recommenda-tions for all recordkeepi

10、ng. Thus, only the more generalrecordkeeping is covered by this guide.4.4 This guide can be used for both brackish and seawatersystems which contain either spiral-wound or hollow-fiberdevices.5. Procedure5.1 Start-Up Report:5.1.1 Provide a complete description of the RO or NF plant.This can be done

11、by using a flow diagram and equipment,instrumentation, and material lists to show water source,pretreatment system, RO or NF configuration, and posttreat-ment system.5.1.2 Record initial performance of RO or NF and pretreat-ment systems as provided in 5.2 and 5.3, respectively.5.1.3 Calibrate all ga

15、ws of each stage inthe RO or NF system.5.2.2 Record the feed, permeate, and brine pressures of eachstage. For hollow-fiber devices also record the brine pressurefor each permeator.5.2.3 Record the water temperature of the feed stream afterthe RO or NF pump or of the permeate stream.5.2.4 Record the

16、pH of the feed, permeate, and brinestreams.5.2.5 Record the conductivity of the feed, permeate, andbrine streams for each stage. For hollow-fiber devices, alsorecord the brine conductivity of each permeator. For conduc-tivity measurements use Test Methods D1125.5.2.6 Record the Silt Density Index (S

17、DI) or turbidity of theRO or NF feed stream, or both. For SDI measurements use TestMethod D4189. For turbidity measurement use Test MethodD1889 (nephelometric turbidity).5.2.7 Record the Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) of thebrine stream from the last stage.
