Materials and Manufacture4.1 The tape shall consist of a woven fabric sheetingimpregnated with an adhesiv

6、e insulating compound, cut intorolls of narrow width and wound on a core.4.2 The fabric sheeting shall be evenly and firmly wovenand as free of unsightly defects, dirt, knots, lumps andirregularities of twist as is consistent with the best manufac-turing practices. The threads shall run in lines as

7、straight aspossible without weaving, to reduce to a minimum the ravelingof the cloth when cut into tape.4.3 The frictioning compound shall be a tacky adhesiveinsulating compound that will not have a deteriorating effect oncopper or other metals or on the fabric.4.4 The fabric shall be thoroughly imp

8、regnated and evenlycovered on both sides with the frictioning compound. Thecompound shall adhere firmly to the fabric and shall not pullaway from the fabric and leave bare spots when adjacent layersof tape are separated.5. General Requirements General Requirements5.1 Friction tapes shall meet the re

9、quirements given in Table1 when tested in accordance with Test Methods D69.5.2 When discoloration of the surface on which the tape isto be applied is an important consideration, the purchaser mayrequest that the tape must pass the test for discoloration ofcopper in accordance with Test Methods D69.6

10、. Dimensions and Permissible Variations6.1 The nominal dimensions and their permissible varia-tions when measured by the procedures of Test Methods D69are presented in Table 2.7. Test Methods7.1 The selection of the rolls, conditioning, and testing shallbe in accordance with Test Methods D69.1This s

Inspection8.1 Inspection of the material shall be made as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the seller as part of the purchasecontract.8.2 If it is required, the tape shall be tested and inspectedeither at the place of manufacture prior to shipment or at thepl

16、ace of delivery within four weeks from the date of delivery.9. Rejection9.1 The purchaser reserves the right to reject any part of theshipment that does not comply with Section 11 of thisspecification.9.2 The purchaser reserves the right to reject a shipmentfrom which two or more sample rolls fail t

17、o meet therequirements of any individual test or measurement prescribedin this specification, without additional sampling. If only onesample roll fails an individual test or measurement or theaverage length of the sample rolls exceeds the prescribedvalue, a second set of samples shall be taken in ac

18、cordancewith Test Methods D69, and all rolls in the second samplingshall be subjected to that test or measurement wherein thefailure occurred. The purchaser reserves the right to reject theshipment if the second sampling fails to conform with theapplicable requirement.10. Aging and Storage10.1 The t

19、ape shall at any time, within eight months afteracceptance if stored in accordance with 10.2, meet the adhesiontest specified in Test Methods D69except that a force of 3lbf/in. (13.3 N/25 mm) shall be substituted for the 4 lbf/in.(17.8 N/25 mm) during unwinding.10.2 Proper storage of tape requires t

20、he use of the originalboxes and a cool, dark location. Tape shall not be stored nearsteam pipes, radiators, or other sources of heat.11. Packaging and Package Marking11.1 PackagingEach roll of tape shall be enclosed in apaper carton unless otherwise specified. If enclosed in a papercarton, either th

21、e roll of tape or the carton shall be wrapped ina moisture-proof material and sealed. The wrapping on the tapeor carton shall be secure and shall protect the contents fully.11.2 Package MarkingEach box shall be marked with thename of the manufacturer or trademark, and the nominal widthand length of

23、ce ProvisionsS1.1.1 Responsibility for InspectionUnless otherwisespecified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier isresponsible for the performance of all inspection requirements,as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the suppliermay utilize his own facilities or any commercial

24、 laboratoryacceptable to the Government. The Government reserves theright to perform any of the inspections set forth in thisspecification where such inspections are deemed necessary toassure that supplies and services conform to prescribed require-ments.S1.1.2 Examination and TestsThe examinations

25、and testsshall be in accordance with this specification, and the addi-tional examinations set forth herein.S1.1.3 Sampling for ExaminationsAll insulation tape ofthe same width offered for delivery at one time shall beconsidered a lot for purposes of examination. Random samplesof the insulation tape

26、shall be selected from each lot inaccordance with Practice D 3636. The samples, for purposes ofdetermining the sample size in accordance with PracticeD 3636, shall be expressed in units of rolls of tape, or in thecase of preparation for delivery, in units of packed shippingcontainers. The inspection

27、 levels and acceptance quality level(AQL), expressed in defects per 100 units, shall be in accor-dance with Table S1.1.S1.1.4 ExaminationEach sample selected shall be exam-ined for compliance with the specified requirements. 33、uirementsAn inspection shall be made to determine thatthe packaging, packing, and marking requirements complywith S1.2.S1.2. Preparation for DeliveryS1.2.1 PackagingPackaging shall be Level A, B, or C, asspecified.S1.2.1.1 Level AEach roll of tape shall be packaged in asnug fitting paperboard box co

34、nforming to Federal Specifica-tion PPP-B-566. The box shall be closed to prevent accidentalopening.S1.2.1.2 Level BEach roll of tape shall be packaged in acellophane or plastic wrap with the identification label securedto the outside of the wrap, or each roll shall be packaged in aprinted cellophane

35、 or plastic wrap. The printed wrap shallcontain the information normally required for the label or unitcontainer. The wrap shall be secured to prevent accidentalopening.S1.2.1.3 Level CEach roll of tape shall be packaged toprevent damage during shipment from the supplier to the initialdestination.S1
