Scope Scope*1.1 This specification applies to flexible closed-cell materials made from polyolefin plastics a

3、nd blends of polyolefin plasticsas defined in Section 3.1.2 Extruded or molded shapes too small to permit the cutting of standard test specimens are difficult to classify or test bystandard test methods and will usually require special testing procedures or the use of standard test sheets.1.3 In cas

4、e of conflict between the provisions of this specification and those of detailed specifications for a particular product,the latter shall take precedence. These detailed specifications for the flexible closed-cell polyolefin plastic foams shouldshall statethe particular test or tests desired.1.4 In

5、cases involving referee decisions, SI units shall be used.1.5 This specification does not contain test procedures or values for all the suffix letters listed in Table 1 and Table 2. Classification (Types, Suffix Letters, and Suffix Numbers)4.1 TypesThis specification covers two types of flexible, closed-cell polyolefin foams designated as follows:4.

32、1.1 Type IClosed cell foams made with polyolefin plastics and either chemically or radiation crosslinked.4.1.2 Type IIClosed cell foams made with polyolefin plastics that are non-crosslinked.4.2 Suffx LettersSuffix letters shall be added to the type designation (4.1) singly or in combination to indi

33、cate the necessaryrequirements.4.2.1 The significance of the approved suffix letters is given in Table 1.4.2.2 Frequently used suffix letters for polyolefin foams are given in Table 2.Where more than one test method exists for a givenproperty, the suffix letters shall be followed immediately by a su

34、bscript number to designate the specific procedure.4.3 Suffx NumbersEach suffix letter shall be followed by a suffix number that indicates the property limit. 43、9 1345.3 The properties selected and values set shall be selected to ensure the required performance of the end product.5.4 Special requirements shall be listed. Test procedures and limits shall be established by negotiation between the purchaserand the supplier. Each special requirement shall be li

44、sted as Z suffix letters followed by numerical subscripts.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Cellular polyolefin foams furnished under this specification shall be manufactured from any resin or blend of resins that aremembers of the polyolefin family together with added compounding materials of such a

45、nature and quality that the finished productcomplies with this specification. In permitting choice in use of those materials by the producer, it is not intended to imply that thedifferent resins are equivalent with respect to all physical properties. Special characteristics other than those prescrib

46、ed in thisspecification that may beare potentially desired for specific applications shall be listed in the product specifications, as they mayhave the potential to influence the choice of the type of resin or other materials used.6.2 All materials and workmanship shall be in accordance with good co

47、mmercial practice and the resulting cellular polyolefinshall be free from defects affecting serviceability.7. Color7.1 Unless otherwise specified, the color of cellular polyolefin foams shall be natural. The foam shall contain no colorants.8. Physical Properties8.1 The polyolefin foams shall conform

48、 to the requirements given in the classification (see Section 4) and described in Table2 together with any special requirements.9. Test Methods9.1 Unless specifically stated otherwise, perform all tests in accordance with the methods specified in Test Methods D3575.9.2 Test methods and values for sp

49、ecial requirements not listed in Table 2 shall be arranged between the purchaser and thesupplier.10. Tolerances on Dimensions10.1 Tolerances on dimensions shall be as specified in Table 3, unless otherwise specified.11. Inspection11.1 All tests and inspection shall be made at the place of manufacture prior to shipment, unless otherwise specified.
