Scope*1.1 This classification system covers liquid crystal poly-meric (LCP) materials suitable for injection molding andextrusion. This classification

3、system allows the use of liquidcrystal polymers that are recycled, reconstituted, recycled-regrind, recovered, or reprocessed, or a combination thereof,provided that the requirements as stated in this classificationsystem are met. It is the responsibility of the supplier and thebuyer of liquid cryst

4、al polymers that are recycled, reconsti-tuted, recycled-regrind, recovered, or reprocessed, or a combi-nation thereof, to ensure compliance.1.2 The properties included in this classification system arethose required to identify the compositions covered. There maybe other requirements necessary to id

5、entify particular charac-teristics important to specialized applications. These shall beagreed upon between the user and the supplier, by usingsuffixes as given in Section 5.1.3 This classification system and subsequent line callout(specification) are intended to be a means of calling out plasticmat

6、erials used in the fabrication of end-use items or parts. It isnot intended for the selection of materials. Material selectionshould be made by those having expertise in the plastics fieldafter careful consideration of the design and the performancerequired of the part, the environment to which it w

7、ill beexposed, the fabrication process to be employed, the costsinvolved, and the inherent properties of the material other thanthose covered by this classification system.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard.1.5 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest

23、e exhibit birefrin-gence in polarized light.4. Classification4.1 The LCP materials are classified into groups accordingto their chemical composition. These groups are subdivided,whether reinforced or not, into classes based on thermalperformance as shown in Table LCP.NOTE 2An example of this classif

The designation will consist of the letterA and the five digits comprising the cell numbers for theproperty requirements in the order as they appear in Table A.4.2.2.1 Although the values listed are necessary to includethe range

35、of properties available in existing materials, usersshould not infer that every possible combination of propertiesexists or can be obtained.4.2.3 When the grade or class of the basic material is notknown or is not important, the “0” classification shall be used.NOTE 6An example of this classificatio

Suffixes Requirements5.1 When additional requirements are needed that are notcovered by the basic requirements or cell-table requirements,they shall be indicated thro

44、.1 The composition of the specified material shall beuniform and shall conform to the requirements specifiedherein.6.2 The basic requirements from the property tables or celltables are always in effect unless superseded by specific suffixrequirements, which always take precedence.7. Detail Requireme

45、nts7.1 The material shall conform to the requirements pre-scribed in Tables LCPandA(or B), and the suffix requirementsas they apply.7.2 For the purposes of determining conformance with thisclassification system, all specified limits for a specification(line callout) based on this classification syst

46、em are absolutelimits, as defined in Practice E29.7.3 With the absolute method, an observed value or acalculated value is not rounded, but is to be compared directlywith the limiting value. Conformance or nonconformance isbased on this comparison.8. Sampling8.1 Sampling shall be statistically adequa

47、te to satisfy therequirements of 12.4.8.2 A batch or lot shall be constituted as a unit of manufac-ture as prepared for shipment, and may consist of a blend oftwo or more production runs.9. Specimen Preparation9.1 The moisture content of the molding material for thepreparation of test specimens shal

48、l not exceed 0.01 %. Materialhaving a moisture content above these limits shall be dried inaccordance with the instructions of the manufacturer.9.2 The test specimens shall be prepared by an injectionmolding process as specified in ISO 294-1 for Table A orPractice D 3641 for Table B. The processing

49、conditions speci-fied in Table 4 are guidelines only. Since mechanical propertiescan vary depending on the molding conditions, contact themanufacturer of the grade for molding conditions appropriatefor specification purposes.9.3 Because of the shear sensitivity of LCP materials,occasionally a gate smaller than the gate specified in PracticeD 3641 may be required to fill the part adequately. Whenreporting data in accordance with a specification (line callout)based on Table B, the gate design should be specified.10. Conditioning10.1 Test specim
