5、enced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:D 751 Test Methods for Coated Fabrics23. Summary of Test Method3.1 A membrane specimen of the material to be tested isplaced across a circular orifice in the measuring apparatus. Thebottom surface of the membrane is exposed to a source of airat a specified pressure.
6、 The top surface of the specimen iscovered with water or soap solution. Absence of the appear-ance of air bubbles on the top surface of the material during aspecified exposure period indicates the lack of pin-holes, leaks,or other similar defects. The coated fabric is then acceptable foruse in the i

Significance and Use4.1 This test method describes a procedure for evaluatingrubberized fabrics that are used to manufacture pneumaticarticles (that is, those that must retain
8、 air in order to performsatisfactorily in an intended application). Examples of sucharticles are emergency rafts, life preservers, marine recre-ational equipment, floats, pontons, and warning or detectiondevices, such as buoys or weather balloons.5. Apparatus5.1 The test apparatus shall consist of t

Time Lapse Between Vulcanization and Testing7.1 For all purposes, the minimum time between vulcaniza-tion and testing shall be 16 h.7.2 For nonproduct tests,
11、the maximum time between vul-canization and testing shall be four weeks, and for evaluationsintended to be comparable, the tests, as far as possible, shouldbe carried out after the same time interval.7.3 For product tests, whenever possible, the time betweenvulcanization and testing should not excee

Test Specimens8.1 Three circular test specimens, 330 6 3mm136 0.1in. in diameter, shall be accurately cut from the coated fabric.Holes conforming to the size and location of the bolts, asshown in Fig. 1, shall be punched around the perimeter of eachpiece.NOTE 1Specimen size is not
13、critical. An apparatus which can accom-modate specimens having a diameter as small as 254 6 3mm106 0.1in. is acceptable. Report the specimen size used in 10.1.4.9. Procedure9.1 Position the specimen in the test apparatus by aligningthe punched holes with the projecting bolts and carefullypressing it
