Classification4.1 This specification covers fiberglass fittings defined bytype (method of manufacture), grade (general resin type), class(general liner t

17、ype), catagory (configuration of joining system),and pressure rating ( a single letter disignating the pressureclass and method of manufacture).4.2 Types:4.2.1 Type 1Filament-wound fittings manufactured bywinding continuous fibrous-glass strand roving or roving tape,either preimpregnated or impregna

18、ted during winding, onto amandrel, or a liner corresponding to the fitting shape.4.2.2 Type 2Compression molded fittings made by apply-ing external pressure and heat to a molding compound that isconfined within a closed mold.4.2.3 Type 3Resin transfer molded fittings manufacturedby pumping a thermos

19、etting resin into glass reinforcementsthat have been cut to size and clamped between matchedmolds.4.2.4 Type 4Centrifugally cast fittings made by applyingresin and reinforcement to the inside of a mold that is rotatingand heated, subsequently polymerizing the resin system.4.2.5 Type 5Contact molded

20、fittings made by applyingresin and reinforcement to a mold or to mitered filamentwoundstock or centrifugally cast pipe stock. This joining method providesan interference fit over the entire length of the bond line.4.5.2 Category 2Straight-taper adhesive-bonded joint fit-ting manufactured with a tapered socket to be used with a pipeor fitting with an untapered spigot section and a

This joining method provides an interference fit atthe bottom of the socket.4.5.3 Category 3Straight adhesive bonded joint fittingmanufactured with an untapered socket for use with a pipe orfitting with an untapered spigot and a suitable adhesive. Thisjoining provides no interfere

27、nce fit.4.5.4 Category 4Butt and strap joint made by a contactmolding process which involves hand lay-up with glass-wovenroving or chopped strand mat, or both, which is saturated withresin.4.5.5 Category 5Flanged fittings are available as alloutlets flanged or as flange-by-joint specified in this sp

28、ecifica-tion. Flanges are in compliance with Specification D 4024.4.5.6 Category 6Elastomeric (gasket) sealed joints withsealant manufactured in compliance with Specification F 477for joints which have integral longitudinal restraint and do notrequire thrust blocking or external longitudinal restrai

29、nt.4.5.7 Category 7Elastomeric (gasket) sealed joints withseals manufactured in compliance with Specification F 477 forjoints which require thrust blocking or external longitudinalrestraint.4.6 Pressure RatingPressure rating shall be categorizedby a single letter designation. Pressure designations a

30、re shownin Table 1. The pressure ratings are applicable for the tempera-ture at which the fittings were tested and for lower tempera-tures down to 50F (46C). When agreed upon betweenpurchaser and manufacturer, pressure ratings determined bytests conducted following Practice D 2992 are acceptable.4.7

31、 Designation CodeThe fitting designation code shallconsist of the abbreviation RTRF or RPMF followed by thetype, grade, and class in Arabic numerals and the pressurerating category as a capital letter.NOTE 4An example is RTRF 21A2E. This designation describes a(Type 2) compression molded fitting wit

32、h a (Grade 1) epoxy-resin withouta liner (Class A), which is joined with a (Category 2) taper-to-taperadhesive joining system and has a 200 psig (1380 kPa) pressure rating.NOTE 5Fittings with identical classification from different manufac-turers may not be interchangeable due to non-standardization

Materials5.1 Fittings manufactured in accordance with this specifica-tion shall be composed of reinforcement embedded in orsurrounded by cured thermosetting-resin. The composite struc-ture may contain granul

35、ar or platelet fillers, thixotropic agents,pigments, or dyes.5.2 The resins, fiberglass reinforcements, and other materi-als, when combined into a composite structure, shall produce afitting that will meet the performance requirements of thisspecification.6. Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe fittings s

36、hall be free of all defectsincluding indentations, delaminations, bubbles, pin holes, for-eign inclusions, and resin starved areas, which, due to theirnature, degree, or extent, detrimentally affect the strength andserviceability of the fitting. The fitting shall be as uniform ascommercially practic

37、able in color, opacity, and other physicalproperties.6.2 Dimensions and TolerancesAll flanged fittings shallconform to the center line to flange face dimensions, hole sizeand hole pattern, and tolerances of ANSI B16.5 short or longradius type, or otherwise as agreed upon between the manu-facturer an

38、d purchaser. Fitting center line to end dimensions,taper angles, taper length, or combinations thereof, will varyfor non-flanged joining systems and the individual manufac-turers shall be consulted for dimensions. Dimensions shall bemeasured in accordance with 7.3.NOTE 6Fittings with short radii whi

39、ch are not in compliance withANSI B16.5 radius tolerances may be available.6.3 Fittings and Connections Pressure Test RequirementsFittings, couplings, and connections shall meet the followingqualification requirements when tested with restrained ends forType 6 fittings, and unrestrained ends for oth

40、er type fittings, inaccordance with 7.4.1 for short term hydrostatic strength tests,and 7.4.2 for cyclic or static tests.6.3.1 Each type of component and its field-jointed configu-ration shall be capable of sustaining a short-time hydrostaticpressure, of at least four times its cyclic-rated pressure

41、 or threetimes its static-rated pressure for 1 min without visible weepingor leakage.6.3.2 Each component shall meet or exceed the cyclic orstatic-test requirements of 7.4.2.6.4 Glass Transition Temperature (Tg)The Tg for eachresin used, as determined by some thermal analysis method,shall be no less

42、 than a minimum statistically significant valueestablished by the manufacturer. Samples shall be taken frommanufactured fittings when thermal analysis testing is accom-plished by differential-scanning-chlorimeter (DSC). Test inaccordance with 7.5.6.5 Factory leak tests shall be conducted at a pressu

43、re of 1.5times pressure rating and at a frequency determined by anagreement between the purchaser and the seller.6.6 For individual orders, only those additional test andnumber of tests specifically agreed upon between the purchaserand the seller need be conducted.7. Test Methods7.1 ConditioningWhen

44、 conditioning is required, and inall cases of disagreement, condition the test specimens at 73.46 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity for notless than 40 h prior to test, in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D 618.7.2 Test ConditionsThe tests may be conducted at ambi-ent temperature a

45、nd humidity conditions. When controlledenvironment testing is specified, tests shall be conducted in theStandard Laboratory Atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C)and 50 6 5 % relative humidity. When elevated temperaturetesting is specified, conduct the tests at the design temperature6 5.4F (3C).7.3 Dim

46、ensions and TolerancesMeasure fitting dimen-sions in accordance with applicable documents and PracticeD 3567. Measure flange dimensions with a micrometer orvernier calipers, or other suitable measuring devices accurateto within 60.001 in. (0.02 mm). Diameters shall be determinedby averaging a minimu

47、m of four measurements, equally spacedcircumferentially.7.4 Pressure Tests:7.4.1 Short-Term Hydrostatic Strength TestShort-term hy-drostatic failure pressure tests to determine compliance with6.3 performed at ambient temperature in accordance with TestMethod D 1599 using specimens and sizes as descr

48、ibed in7.4.3. Leaking past the gasket interface of flanged fittings andelastomeric sealed fittings is permissible during this test,provided the pressure is at least two times the rating when theleak occurs. The bolt torquing sequence of SpecificationD 4024, Fig. 2 shall be used when testing flanged

49、fittings.Fittings without flanges shall be tested with the pipe they are tobe used with joined to the fitting. Bending or shape restraintduring the test is permitted to the extent applicable to itsanticipated installed conditions. This information shall becontained in the test report.7.4.2 Cyclic or Static Pressure Test:7.4.2.1 For cyclic pressure tests, the gage pressure at thepeak pressure of the cycle shall be not less than 2 times thepressure rating of the fitting. The cycle amplitude pressureshall be at least 80 % of the
