Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers a thermoplastic insulation ofpoly (vinyl chloride) or the

3、copolymer of vinyl chloride andvinyl acetate. This insulation is recommended for use atconductor temperatures not in excess of 90 C.1.2 Depending on the thickness of the insulation, the maxi-mum voltage used, and whether the location is wet or dry, thisinsulation is acceptable for use in 300 V (dry)

4、 and 600 V (wetor dry) power and control circuits.1.3 This insulation has potential low-temperature installa-tion limitations. Consult the manufacturer for specific recom-mendations for installation.1.4 Whenever two sets of values are presented, in differentunits, the values in the first set are the

5、 standard, while those inparentheses are for information only.1.5 In many instances the insulation material cannot betested unless it has been formed around a conductor or cable.Therefore, tests are done on insulated wire or cable in thisspecification solely to determine the relevant property of the

16、5.3.1 Insulated conductors in SizesAWG 14 (2.08 mm2) andlarger shall have an insulation resistance of at least thatcorresponding to a constant of 2000 MV-1000 ft at 60 F (15.6C).5.3.2 If the temperature at the time the measurement wasmade differs from 60 F (15.6 C), correct the insulationresistance

17、to 60F by multiplying the measured value by theproper correction factor from Table number 1 of Test MethodsD 2633.5.4 DC Voltage Test Upon completion of the insulationresistance test, test each non-shielded insulated conductor for 5min at a dc withstand voltage that is three times the ac testvoltage

18、 specified in Table 3. Unless otherwise specified, omitthis test if the ac withstand voltage test described in 5.2 isperformed.5.5 Accelerated Water AbsorptionThe insulation shallmeet the requirements of Table 4 when tested in accordancewith the procedure in Test Methods D 2633. Conduct the test at6

19、0 Hz with the water temperature at 906 1 C.5.6 Dielectric Strength RetentionThe insulation shall becapable of meeting a dielectric strength retention of at least60 % of the original dielectric strength when tested in accor-dance with Test Methods D 2633 at a temperature of 90 6 1C.6. Thickness of In

20、sulation6.1 The average thickness of the insulation shall be at leastthat prescribed in Table 3. The minimum thickness shall be atleast 90 % of the thickness prescribed in Table 3.7. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance7.1 Apply the insulation directly to the surface of theconductor or conductor cover

21、ing and obtain a tight fit to thatsurface.7.2 Repairs and JointsWhen making repairs or joints inthe insulation, do the work in such a manner that the repairedpart of the joint, and all parts affected by the process, meet thesame electrical tests as the remainder of the insulation andmaintain the lim
