Terminology3.1 DefinitionsThe terms used in this test method are in accordance with Terminology D883 and abbreviations are inaccordance with Terminology D1600, unless otherwise ind

Summary of Test Method4.1 Plastisols or organosols are weighed in aluminum dishes and heated in a circulating air oven at 177C (350F) for 10 min.The specimens are removed from the oven, cooled, and reweighed. The weight loss is determined and reported as either percentweight loss or weight

8、 loss per unit area of exposed surface.5. Significance and Use5.1 The volatile components of a plastisol or organosol influencesinfluence the weight loss during processing. It is possible thatthis information will be useful to the producer and user and to environmental interests for estimating the v

9、olatiles emitted by theplastisol or organosol during processing.5.2 Results obtained by this test method are not strictly equivalent to those experienced during product processing whereinconditions of temperature, air flow, coating mass, and configuration are potentially quite different.5.3 This tes

Apparatus6.1 Oven, forcedventilation laboratory oven, Type II, Grade A, with 100 to 200 air exchanges/h as specified in SpecificationE145.6.1.1 It is acceptable to use a rotating turntable drive at a rate of 1 to 6.6.1.2 It is acceptable to use a tray to fit the turntable t

16、o minimize the temperature drop in the oven.6.2 Aluminum Foil Dishes, 57 mm in diameter by 18 mm high with a smooth (planar) bottom surface.7. The weight of the specimens added to the dish is allowed to var

18、y according to theapplication. Add the Add the plastisol or organosol specimen in such a manner as to entirely cover the bottom of the dish. Theweight added to each dish should be as uniform as possible and only vary by shall vary by only 60.1 g of the selected weight.If the thickness of the final p

19、roduct cannot be accurately determined, add 6.0 6 0.1 g to each dish.NOTE 2A more representative measurement of weight loss is possible if the thickness of the sample in the aluminum dish approaches the thicknessof the material during processing. 20、wed to vary according to the application.7.4 Reweigh the dishes to the nearest 0.1 mg.7.5 Place only three dishes from a single specimen in the oven on a shelf or turntable, or both, perpendicular to the airflow.7.5.1 If a rotating turntable is used, place the dishes on the turntable equally spaced

21、from the center.7.5.2 Due to the short heating time, place the specimens should be placed into the oven as quickly as possible to minimize thetemperature drop in the oven.7.6 Heat the aluminum foil dishes containing the specimens in the forced draft oven (6.1) for 10 min 6 20 s at 177C (350F).7.7 Re

22、move the dishes from the oven, place immediately in a desiccator, cool for 15 min to ambient temperature, and weighto 0.1 mg.8.
