1、Designation: D 6225 98 (Reapproved 2004)Standard Test Method forGranule Cover of Mineral Surfaced Roofing1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 6225; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last

2、revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the determination of the hidingpower of granules on a mineral surfaced roofing sheet. The testis u

Apparatus5.1 MagnifierAn optical magnifier with a fixed power ofmagnification of 83 and a working field of at least 806mm2(1.25 in.2).5.2 Transparency Overlay Grid

8、A transparency overlaywith grid markings. The transparency must be of sufficient sizeto cover the area abraded by the abrasion test brush describedin Test Method D 4977, 32 by 159 mm (1.25 by 6.25 in.) withgrid lines oriented to form squares 1.27 mm (0.05 in.) on a sidewith 2160 squares/32 by 159 mm

The gridtransparency must be capable of being positioned over thesample and must permit the operator to clearly view the sampleand should be partitioned into groups of squares to facilitatecounting (see Fig. 1).5.3 Light SourceA high intensity lamp or fluorescent ringlight, capa

Preparation of Apparatus7.1 Place the specimen to be examined on a flat surface andarrange the light source and magnifier so that the sample can beplainly viewed.7.2 Abrasion test 51 by 229 mm (2 by 9 in.) specimens canbe examined by removing the clamping tray from the abrasio

Procedure8.1 Remove any loose granules from the specimen withgentle tapping.8.2 Place the overlay grid so that it is in alignment with thearea to be examined. In the case of abrasion test samples, the32 by 159 mm (

13、1.25 by 6.25 in.) portion of the grid should bealigned with the abraded area of the sample.1This test method is under the jurisdiction ofASTM Committee D08 on Roofingand Waterproofing and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D08.04 on Feltsand Fabrics.Current edition approved Dec. 1, 2004.
