、Designation: D 6254/D 6254M 07Standard Specification forWirebound Pallet-Type Wood Boxes1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 6254/D 6254M; the number immediately following the designation indicates theyear of original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision.
、 A number in parentheses indicates the year of lastreapproval. A superscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers the fabrication of new f
、ullyenclosed wirebound pallet-type wooden boxes intended for useas containers for domestic and overseas shipment of generalmaterials and supplies, not exceeding 2500 lb 1134 kg (see10.1).1.2 Wirebound pallet-type wooden box performance is de-pendent on its fabricated components; therefore, a variety
、 oftypes, classes, and treatments reflecting varied performance arespecified. This specification, however, does not cover wire-bound pallet-type wooden box performance under all atmo-sphere, handling, shipping, and storage conditions.1.3 If the use of other construction methods or techniques isaccep
、table and permitted (see 5.1.11), the resulting packagingsystems shall be of equal or better performance than wouldresult from the use of these specified materials and procedures. The appropriate distribution cycle provided in Practice D 4169can be used to develop comparative procedures and criteria.
、1.4 The values stated in either inch-pound or SI units are tobe regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI unitsare shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are notexact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used inde-pendently of the other. Combining values from the t
