Summary of Test Method3.1 A 200 g sample of water based aluminized coating isheated to 51.7 6 1C (125 6 2F) in an Erlenmeyer flask andthe volume in millilitres of hydrogen gas evolved is measured.The test is conducted

6、for one week (168 h) with a reading takenevery 24 h. The test room is to be maintained at 73.4 6 3.6Fin order to standardize gas collection temperature in the buretterecepticle.4. Significance and Use4.1 This procedure measures the amount of hydrogen gasgeneration potential of aluminized emulsion ro

7、of coating.There is the possibility of water reacting with aluminumpigment to generate hydrogen gas. This situation is to beavoided, so this test was designed to evaluate coating formu-lations and assess the propensity to gassing.5. Apparatus and Materials5.1 The assembly of the hydrogen gas generat

8、ion testapparatus is illustrated in Fig. 1. Details of the component partare as follows:5.1.1 Wide Mouth Glass Erlenmeyer Flask, 250-mL capac-ity.5.1.2 Beaker, glass, 250-mL.5.1.3 Burette, standard glass 100-mL graduated with glassstopcock and 0.2 mL divisions.5.1.4 Condenser, glass jacketed, having

9、 the dimensionsshown in Fig. 2.5.1.5 Glass Tubing, standard glass 6.35 mm (14 in.) insidediameter 7.94 mm (516 in.) outside diameter and 127 mm (5in.) length for forming the J tube.5.1.6 Tubing, pure latex amber rubber tubing, 6.35 mm (14in.).5.1.7 Neoprene Rubber Stopper, No. 8 with one hole (pre-f

Procedure7.1 Weigh 200 g of the sample directly in the 250-mLErlenmeyer flask ensuring that none coats the neck

Flask shouldbe supported int

15、ernally via flask holder or externally with asuitable clamping device.7.3 Fill the 250-mL beaker with water and insert the100-mL burette and J-tube into the water. Avoid the introduc-tion of water into the J-tube.7.4 Draw the water level to the 100-mL mark on the buretteand close the stopcock.7.5 Re

16、cord the time as the start of the induction period.7.6 Aftera1hinduction period, record the time and thewater level point on the burette. The latter figure is the zeropoint. Do not include the one hour induction period level pointin the calculation and report.7.7 Unless otherwise specified, conduct

17、the test at a roomtemperature of 23.0 6 2C (73.4 6 3.6F) for one week, (168h), with a reading taken every 24 h at the corresponding timethat the zero point was taken. It is recognized that test durationis seven days per week and readings may not be practical onweekends or holidays.7.8 If the gas qua

18、ntity approaches the confines of theburette, the test should be terminated.8. Calculation and Report8.1 Hydrogen Gas EvolutionCalculate the total millilitresof hydrogen gas evolved to the nearest 0.1-mL as follows:H 5 V Z (1)where:H = hydrogen gas evolved in mL,V = volume of water in burette at 168
