Scope1.1 This specification establishes requi

3、rements for chemi-cally blown cellular rubber.1.2 In the case of conflict between the provisions of thisspecification and those of detailed specifications or test meth-ods for a particular product, the latter shall take precedence.1.3 Unless specifically stated otherwise, by agreement be-tween the p

4、urchaser and the supplier, all test methods shall beperformed in accordance with the test methods specified in thisspecification.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard. Significance and Use5.1 This specification is a revision of MIL R 6130C retain-ing most of the MIL R 6130C material designations andproperty requirements while conforming to ASTM form andstyle. It is intended to establish requirements for chemicallyblown cellular rubb

20、er used by government and industry, and isintended as a direct replacement for MIL R 6130C.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 MaterialsThe materials shall be homogeneous. Ex-cept for the following production allowances:6.1.1 Tears and edge cracks that do not interfere withspecified product yield.6.1.2

21、Depression and pock marks not exceeding 1 in.6.1.3 Splices and butt splices.6.1.4 Laminating sheets to achieve thickness.6.2 The material shall not include the following:6.2.1 Cemented, bonded, shredded, or reprocessed cellularrubber.6.2.2 Grade A cellular rubber shall not contain naturalrubber.6.3

22、FormChemically blown cellular rubber shall be fur-nished as sheets, rolls, or molded shapes as specified, and shallhave a uniform cell structure, with thin skin or rind surfaces.Cut or split sheets void of skin or rind surfaces may befurnished only for Type II material when specified.6.4 Skin or Rin

23、dThe surface formed by contact with themold shall be considered a skin or rind. It shall be of the samecompound, and vulcanized integrally with the cellular struc-ture. Type I shall have skin or rind. Type II may or may nothave skin or rind.6.5 Cut or Split Sheets (Type II Only)When two or moresheet

24、s are derived from one thick sheet, the cut or split sheetsshall not be required to posses a skin or rind on either majorsurface.6.6 SurfacingCellular rubber shall be backed or surfacedwith fabric, adhesive, or other materials, when and as specifiedin the contract or order or by applicable drawings.

Physical Properties7.1 The various types and grades of cellular rubber shallconform to the physical properties listed in Table 1 togetherwith any additional requirements indicated by suffix letters inthe grade designations as described in Section 4 and Table 2.8. Tolerances on Dimensions8.1 Toler

26、ances on dimensions of flexible cellular rubbermaterials are given in Table 3.8.2 Molded ShapesTolerance requirements for moldedshapes shall be as specified in drawings, contracts, or by theprocuring activity.8.3 Sheets and RollsUnless otherwise specified, the tol-erance requirements for thickness,

27、lengths and width of sheetsshall be as specified in Table 3.9. Test Methods9.1 Unless specifically stated otherwise, all test methodsshall be in accordance with the test methods specified inSections 10-18.9.2 Precision and BiasThe repeatability standard devia-tions for each test method has been dete

28、rmined. The reproduc-ibility of these test methods is being determined and will beavailable on or before March 2006.NOTE 2One laboratory tested one closed-cell, flame-resistant, non-oilresistant, 96-kg/m3, 14-35-kPa product as a representative sample. Thissample was used for shrinkage, recovery, and

29、 oil-resistance testing.10. Test Conditions10.1 Standard ConditionsUnless otherwise specifiedherein, conduct the test method at 23 6 2C (73.4 6 3.6F) anda relative humidity of 50 6 5%10.2 Specimen ConditioningUnless otherwise specified,condition all test specimens at standard conditions for at least

30、22 h prior to testing.11. Compression Deflection11.1 Test in accordance with Sections 17 to 22 of Specifi-cation D 1056.12. Low-Temperature Flex Resistance12.1 Test in accordance with Sections 56 to 60 of Specifi-cation D 1056. Exposure temperatures shall be in accordancewith Table 4.13. Accelerated

31、 Aging13.1 Test in accordance with Sections 34 to 41 of Specifi-cation D 1056.14. Recovery14.1 Specimen SizeRound test specimen shall be cut 41.36 1 mm (1.625 6 0.04 in.) in diameter. Specimens taken fromeither sheets or molded shapes shall have a minimum thicknessof 6.4 mm (0.250 in.) and a maximum

32、 thickness of 28.6 mm(1.125 in.). Skin on top face, or bottom face, or both, isD6576072allowed. Specimens shall be cut so that opposite edges areparallel. The thickness of the test specimens may vary, but shallbe measured and stated in the report. Measure the thickness ofeach test specimen to 0.0254

45、 oven equipped with a con-trol to maintain a temperature of 70 6 1C (158 6 2F) duringthe test and having an expanded metal shelf, and a steel rule,graduated in millimetres (inches), capable of measuring toincrements of 1.0 mm (0.05 in.).16.4 Test SpecimenUse three specimens approximately300 by 75 mm

46、 (12 by 3 in.) cut from each of the test samples.16.5 ProcedureAt each of two points, approximately 250mm (10 in.) apart on the centerline of each specimen, place abenchmark. Condition the specimen 24 h at a temperature of 236 2C (73 6 3.6F) and measure the distance between thebenchmarks to the near

47、est 1.0 mm (0.05 in.). Place thespecimens on an expanded metal shelf in an oven operating ata temperature of 70 6 1C (158 6 2F).
