Scope*1.1 This specification covers unsintered extruded films ortapes manufactured from virgin, unpigmented polytetrafluoro-et

3、hylene, in nominal thickness from 0.025 to 0.51 mm 0.001to 0.020 in., and are 97 % PTFE in composition.1.1.1 The use of recycled PTFE for production of unsinteredextruded films or tapes has not been identified at this time.When commercial usable processes and materials are avail-able, this specifica

17、ntdensity of 1.50 to 1.70 g/cm3.4.2 Grades of tape are identified in Tables 1-3.4.3 A line callout system is used to specify materials in thisspecification. 19、bles, orboth, in the specification identified. A comma is used as theseparator between the standard number and the type. Separa-tors are not needed between the type and grade because theyare, in turn, roman numerals and arabic digits as provided inSection B8 of the Form and Style for ASTM Standards.

20、Provision for “Special Notes” is included so that other infor-mation can be provided when required. This example would bewire and cable tape with no special or added requirements.When special notes are used, they should be preceded by acomma.5. Performance Requirements5.1 Basic requirements from the

21、 property tables are alwaysin effect unless superseded by specific suffix requirements,which always take precedence.5.2 The materials shall conform to the requirements inTables 1-3 and suffix requirements as they apply.6. Sampling6.1 Sampling shall be in accordance with an adequatestatistical sampli

22、ng procedure.7. Conditioning7.1 For those tests where conditioning is required, conditionthe test specimens in accordance with Procedure A of PracticeD 618, except the time shall be for a period of at least 4 h priorto test instead of the 40 h required by this method. If the testmaterial has been ex

23、posed to temperatures below 20C 68Fwithin 24 h period prior to test, the conditioning shall be atleast 24 h.7.2 Conduct tests at the standard laboratory temperature of23 6 2C 73.4F 6 3F. The maintenance of constanthumidity is not necessary. In reference cases, the standardatmosphere and 50 6 5 % rel

24、ative humidity shall apply.8. Test Methods8.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with test methods referenced inSection 2 of Test Method D 6040.8.1.1 The number of samples shall be consistent with therequirements of Section 6.8.1.2 One set of test specim

25、ens shall be considered sufficientfor testing each lot. The average result of the specimens shallconform to the requirements of this specification.9. Inspection and Certification9.1 Inspection and certification of the material supplied withreference to a specification based on this classification sy

26、stemshall be for conformance to the requirements specified herein.9.2 Lot-acceptance inspection shall be the basis on whichacceptance or rejection of the lot is made. The lot-acceptanceinspection shall be agreed upon between the purchaser and thesupplier as part of the purchase contract.9.3 Periodic

27、 check inspection with reference to a specifica-tion based upon this classification system shall consist of thetests for all requirements of the material under the specifica-tion. Inspection frequency shall be adequate to ensure thematerial is certifiable in accordance with 9.4.9.4 Certification sha

28、ll be that the material was manufacturedby a process in statistical control, sampled, tested, and in-spected in accordance with this classification system, and thatthe average values for the lot meet the requirements of thespecification.9.5 A report of test results shall be furnished when re-quested

29、. The report shall consist of results of the lot-acceptanceinspection for the shipment and the results of the most recentperiodic-check inspection.10. Packaging and Package Marking10.1 PackagingThe materials shall be packaged in stan-dard commercial containers constructed so as to ensure accep-tance
