ASTM D6937-2016 1936 Standard Test Method for Determining Density of Emulsified Asphalt《测定乳化沥青密度的标准试验方法》.pdf

、Designation: D6937 16Standard Test Method forDetermining Density of Emulsified Asphalt1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D6937; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number i

、n parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the determination of density ofemulsified asphalt used in highway construction. This unit iscomputed by determining the

、 mass of an emulsified asphaltcontained in a standard measure of known volume.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included in thisstandard.1.3 This test method does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated wit

、h its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. 5、e and Use3.1 This test method provides a controlled laboratory testfor the determination of quantitative volumes of emulsifiedasphalt for use in bills of lading, invoicing, and applicationrates.4. Sample Conditioning for Testing4.1 All emulsified asphalts shall be properly stirred toachieve homogene

、ity before testing.4.2 All emulsified asphalts with viscosity testing require-ments of 50C shall be heated to 50 6 3C in the originalsample container in a water bath or oven. The container shouldbe vented to relieve pressure. After the sample reaches 50 63C, stir the sample to achieve homogeneity.4.

、3 Emulsified asphalts with viscosity testing requirementsof 25C should be mixed or stirred at 25 6 3C in the originalsample container to achieve homogeneity.NOTE 1Emulsified asphalts with viscosity testing requirements of25C may be heated and stirred as specified in 4.2 if necessary. In theevent the

、 4.2 method is used, the sample should be cooled to 25 6 3Cbefore testing.5. Apparatus5.1 Density CupStainless steel measure of known stan-dard volume (83.2 mL).5.2 Balancecapable of being read to the nearest 0.01 g.5.3 Water Bathconstant-temperature, maintained at 25 60.5C.5.4 ThermometerASTM 17C c

Procedure6.1 Stir the emulsified asphalt sample and place in aconstant-temperature water bath maintained at 25 6 0.5C andbring sample to temperature.6.2 Place the measure and its cap on the balance, tare, andzero

、 the balance.6.3 Remove the emulsified asphalt sample from the bath andstir, using care to avoid trapping air in the sample. If necessary, strain through a 850-m sieve to remove any skin or film thatmight be present in the emulsified asphalt.6.4 Bring the measure to approximately 25C and pour theemul

、sified asphalt into the measure, filling it completely (orwithin 2 mm of the rim).6.5 Start placing the cap into the measure and remove, witha clean dry rag or paper, the excess emulsified asphalt oozingthrough the orifice in the cap.6.6 When the cap is placed on tightly, clean the measurecarefully,

、 determine the mass on the tared balance to thenearest 0.01 g, and record.7. Calculation7.1 Calculate the density of the emulsified asphalt as fol-lows:W 5 G!11.98!
