Significance and Use4.1 Fabrics intended for rainwear and all-purpose, water-repellent coat end use should meet all of the requirements listedin Table 1 of this specification.4.2 It should be recognized that fabric can be produce

16、dutilizing an almost infinite number of combination of construc-tion variables (for example, type of fibers, percentage of fibers,yarn twist, yarn number, warp and pick count, chemical andmechanical finishes). Additionally, fashion or aesthetics dictatethat the ultimate consumer may find acceptable

17、articles madefrom fabrics that do not conform to all of the requirements inTable 1.4.2.1 Hence, no single performance specification can possi-bly apply to all the various fabrics that could be utilized for thisend-use.4.3 The uses and significance of particular properties andtest methods are discuss

18、ed in the appropriate sections of thespecified test methods.5. There may be nooverall correlation between the results obtained with the tongue tearmachine (Test Method D2261) and with the Elmendo

27、rf machine (TestMethod D1424). Consequently, these two tongue tear testers cannot beused interchangeably. In case of controversy, Test Method D1424 shallprevail.5.4 Bursting StrengthDetermine the bursting strength ofknit fabrics as directed in Test Method D3786.NOTE 4There is no overall correlation

28、between the results obtainedwith the diaphragm bursting tester (Test Method D3786) and the CRTmachine equipped with a bursting attachment (Test Method D3787).Consequently, these two bursting testers cannot be used interchangeably.In case of controversy, Test Method D3786 shall prevail.5.5 Dimensiona

29、l Change:5.5.1 Pressing and Finishing During GarmentManufacturingDetermine the dimensional change duringpressing and finishing as directed in AATCC Test Method 135.5.5.1.1 If no agreement has been made between purchaserand supplier, press and finish specimen(s) using a flat-bed pressas described in

31、ly to be able to bedrycleaned except where all or part of the fabric will not withstanddrycleaning. For example, the fabric could contain a functional finishsoluble in the solvent, or the fiber could be degraded by the solvent, whichwould be the case with poly(vinyl chloride) fiber. If a fabric woul

32、d beharmed by ALL methods of care except for drycleaning, it should beconsidered Dry Clean only.5.6 Colorfastness:5.6.1 LaunderingDetermine the colorfastness to launder-ing as directed in the applicable procedure of AATCC TestMethod 61.NOTE 6It has been reported that the results for staining, obtain

33、ed bystandard AATCC Test Methods, on fabrics dyed to dark shades thatcontain a combination of polyester and spandex, or their blends, may notshow the full staining propensity of such fabrics in consumer use. It is,therefore, recommended that the staining results obtained by these testsnot be used fo

34、r acceptance testing of such fabrics.5.6.2 Dry CleaningDetermine the colorfastness to drycleaning as directed in AATCC Test Method 132.5.6.3 Burnt Gas FumesDetermine the colorfastness toburnt gas fumes on the original fabric and after one launderingor one dry cleaning as directed in AATCC Test Metho
