Scope1.1 This is a material specification covering hybrid geosyn-thetic paving mats typically used for, but not limite
3、d to, use injoint and localized (spot) pavement repairs; and paving matsintended for curb-to-curb coverage to provide a moisturebarrier for the pavement structure and retard reflective crackingin bituminous overlays. They are typically non-woven inconstruction. This is a material purchasing specific

Ordering Information5.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following infor

Recommended Personal Protective Equipment6.1 Respiratory ProtectionA properly fitted NIOSH ap-proved disposable N 95 series dust respirator such as the 3Mmodel 8210 (model 8271 in high humidity environments) orequivalent should be used under the following conditions:6.1.1 Any dusty environment.
24、6.1.2 When mechanically altering product (mechanicaltransfer, crushing, grinding, milling or other similar dustgenerating processes). Use respiratory protection in accordancewith your companys respiratory protection program, localregulations and OSHA regulations under 29 CFR 1910.134.6.2 Skin Protec
25、tionNormal work clothing (long sleevedshirts and long pants) is recommended. Use gloves. Skinirritation is known to occur chiefly at the pressure points suchas around the neck, wrists, waist, and between the fingers.6.3 Eyes/Face Protective EquipmentWear safety glassesor goggles.7. Materials and Man
26、ufacture7.1 Fibers used in the manufacture of hybrid geosyntheticpaving mats may be inorganic or a combination of inorganicand organic fibers, and shall not melt at temperatures below205C (400F). Any threads used in joining paving mats bysewing or knitting shall consist of long-chain synthetic poly-
27、mers, and shall also be heat stable to temperatures of 205C(400F). They shall be formed into a stable network such thatthe filaments or yarns retain their dimensional stability relativeto each other, including selvages.8. Mechanical Properties8.1 All property values in these specifications represent
28、minimum average roll values (MARV; that is, average testresults of any roll in a lot sampled for conformance or qualityassurance testing shall meet or exceed the minimum valuesprovided herein).9. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations9.1 Roll Sizes:9.1.1 The manufacturer and purchaser shall ag
29、ree upon thelength and width of the hybrid geosynthetic paving mat rolls.9.1.1.1 Roll dimensions of all types of hybrid geosyntheticpaving mats shall not vary more than 0.5 % of the stated lengthand width.9.2 Mass Measurements:9.2.1 Mass of all types of hybrid geosynthetic paving matsshall not be le
30、ss than the MARV values shown in Table 1.10. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance10.1 Rolls of hybrid geosynthetic paving mats should befree of cuts or rips in the outer covering that may cause damageto the integrity of the Paving mat. Minor scuffing or damage tothe roll may be removed by cutting off
31、the damaged section ofthe Paving mat.10.2 The ends of the cardboard tubes that serve as the corearound which the hybrid geosynthetic paving mat is wrappedshould be free of serious damage that might impede smoothrollout of the Paving mat during application. Minor denting ortearing will not impede nor
32、mal application, but severelydamaged rolls shall be returned for credit to the supplier.11. Sampling11.1 Hybrid geosynthetic paving mats shall be subject tosampling and testing to verify conformance with this specifi-cation. 37、urance samples obtained using the procedure forSampling for Manufacturers Quality Assurance (MQA) Test-ing. A lot size shall be considered to be the shipment quantityof the given product, or a truckload of the given product,whichever is smaller.12. Number of Tests and Retests12.1 Testing shall be pe
38、rformed in accordance with themethods referenced in this specification for the indicatedapplication. The number of specimens to test per sample isspecified by each test method. Paving mat product acceptanceshall be based on Practice D4759. Product acceptance isdetermined by comparing the average tes
39、t results of allspecimens within a given sample to the specification MARV.Refer to Practice D4759 for more details regarding geotextileacceptance procedures.13. Inspection13.1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the supplier shall be responsible for the performance ofall ins
40、pection requirements as specified herein.13.2 Except as otherwise specified, the supplier shall usetheir own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable tothe purchaser for analysis of material. The purchaser reservesthe right to perform any of the inspections set forth in thisspecification w
41、here such inspections are deemed necessary toensure that supplies and services conform to the prescribedrequirements.14. Rejection and Rehearing14.1 The hybrid geosynthetic paving mat shall be subject torejection if it fails to conform to any of the requirements of thisspecification. Rejection shoul
42、d be reported to the producer orsupplier promptly and in writing. In case of dissatisfaction withthe results of the test, the producer or supplier may make claimfor a rehearing.15. Certification15.1 The supplier shall provide to the purchaser a certificatestating the name of the manufacturer, produc
43、t name, hybridgeosynthetic paving mat type, composition of the hybridgeosynthetic paving mat fabric and filaments or yarns, andother pertinent information to fully describe the hybrid geo-synthetic paving mat.15.2 The manufacturer is responsible for establishing andmaintaining a quality control prog
44、ram to assure compliancewith the requirements of the specification.15.3 The manufacturers certificate shall state the asphaltretention rate based on the results from Test Method D6140.15.4 The manufacturers certificate shall state that the fur-nished hybrid geosynthetic paving mat meets MARV require
45、-ments of the specification as evaluated under the manufactur-ers quality control program.Aperson having legal authority tobind the manufacturer shall attest to the certificate.15.5 Either mislabeling or misrepresentation of materialsshall be reason to reject those hybrid geosynthetic paving matprod
46、ucts.16. Product Marking16.1 Hybrid geosynthetic paving mat labeling, shipment,and storage shall follow Guide D4873. Product labels shallclearly show the manufacturer or supplier name, style name,roll number, and length and width of roll. Each shippingdocument shall include a notation certifying tha
47、t the material isin accordance with the manufacturers certificate.17. Packaging and Package Marking17.1 Each hybrid geosynthetic paving mat roll shall bewrapped with a material that will protect the paving mat,including the ends of the roll, from damage due to shipment,water, and contaminants. The p
48、rotective wrapping shall bemaintained during periods of shipment and storage. Productlabels shall clearly show the manufacturer or supplier name,style name, and roll number.18. Supplementary Requirements18.1 During storage, hybrid geosynthetic paving mat rollsshall be elevated off the ground and ade
49、quately covered toprotect them from the following: site construction damage,precipitation, chemicals that are strong acids or strong bases,flames including welding sparks, temperatures in excess of71C (160F), and any other environmental condition that maydamage the physical property values of the paving mat.19.
